PEACE HOUSE We have been blessed with a again at Peace House. We are enjoying the sweet sounds of a 4 year old boy, and it is joyful! Our newest resident is taking classes at Lord Fairfax and studying hard. Another resident is taking classes for Peer Recovery Training. She has completed 3 of 8 weeks. I went back to work part time to help pay off some bills. A special thank you to our volunteers and special friends Meredith Hancock and Penny Croll for helping to lead devotions in the mornings while I am at work. One of our resident’s mom has been joining us for many activities, including morning devotion time, fellowship dinners and activity nights. How marvelous it is to watch God heal our relationships! He is faithful! We had a guest speaker at Activity Night, who is a peer recovery specialist for Northwestern. She shared her testimony with the ladies and showed the power of God’s work in her life. She is able to minister to people in recovery, helping them draw nearer to God as they work though the pain of healing past hurts. We had our youngest donator bless us with her sweet smile and a bag of food for the houses. When we asked her what her relationship with God looked like, she said “LOVE!”. Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way she should go; even when LIVING IN GOD’S she is old she will not depart from it. HOPE & TRUTH Blessings to you, Alice Peace House “Mom”

FAITH HOUSE SEPTEMBER 2018 Hello all, This year has been flying by! I can’t believe we’re already in September! This month marks 2 years NEWSLETTER of the ministry and also my involvement with it. We have changed a lot since the beginning and I know I also have as a person. The Lord has stretched me way out of my comfort zone and He has grown me. There have been high mountain top moments where I can do nothing but praise the Lord for everything, and there have been low valley times when I wonder why I’m doing this. I wouldn’t Train up a child change it for the world. I have learned so much about myself and loving people like Jesus and looking past things that might make the world turn away. The lessons I’ve learned and experiences in the way she I’ve had are invaluable. I have changed as a person and how I relate to people forever. The Faith house ladies are all doing very well. We have a new resident who is eager to jump in and should go; even start getting involved with Shine. She enjoys bible study with the group. Our resident in Drug Court was able to graduate to phase 2. We are so proud of her. And last, when she is but not least, our other resident is readjusting to life as a single mom of 2 and she’s doing amazing! She also was able to get her car back and her license reinstated! I am old she will not so proud of all the ladies and the hope they have is so healing. They’re doing a wonderful job and continue to grow in the Lord daily. Please depart from it. keep us in your prayers for perseverance as we continue to move forward and conquer the obstacles in front of us with grace, wisdom and with full reliance on the Lord. Proverbs 22:6 Cheyenne Faith House TRINITY HOUSE Trinity Men’s house is looking forward to the change of season, as we leave summer and head into fall. We said goodbye to a resident after he was with us for the spring and summer. We pray he will continue to grow in his faith. We welcomed a young man who recently left his family’s home for the first time, finding himself without employment or a vehicle. He was blessed to immediately find employment in the kitchen of our local Buffalo Wild Wings, and visit us on the web: VALLEY-LIGHT.ORG is thrilled to work there. His attitude improves daily, and he is a joy ‘Happy Birthday Abiezer’ to have around the house. Pray that he meets Jesus in person and begins a new journey with Him. Continue to pray for our hard-working guest from Texas - he spent email us: a few days in the hospital battling COPD. Big Tex wants to quit smoking, and we are praying for [email protected] his strength and endurance during the struggle. Please lift him up to be delivered from the grip of tobacco and nicotine. Our House Supervisor continues to work long hours, yet he makes time to follow us on facebook: be available for the men of the house to provide guidance and counsel in each day’s challenges. @ValleyLIGHTFoundation We are thankful for the ‘Band of Brothers’ that visit each week for devotionals and breakfast meetings - our fellowship amongst the men continues to grow. Our Executive Director, Robin Russell, has resigned to allow her to focus on her health and family needs. Robin has been a crucial part of Valley-LIGHT Foundation (VLF) since our very beginning. We are so grateful for her love and hard work in serving our community. Robin will continue to serve as a VLF Board member.

All inquiries about VLF should be directed by email to [email protected] or by phone to (540) 684-9111.

From the SHINE room ... If you look behind our lovely new resident you will see piles of what may look like junk to the average eye. When I look, I see extravagant bracelets, fine handbags, and treasures that no one else sees. This is how God views us. We are diamonds not yet formed. He refines us through the fires of trial so that all the impurities will burn off and what’s left is beautiful. Our trials involve trusting God through our pain, surrendering ourselves to Him and not running from the fire. This is how He makes broken into beautiful. And we have beautiful ladies at Valley-Shine!! We would love for you to partner with us in Making Broken Beautiful. Sign up online today for your Transformation Twenty bracelet of the month!
