TADIĆ, University of Belgrade, Professional paper Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, Belgrade UDC: 656.07:33(497.11) JELICA M. PETROVIĆ-VUJAČIĆ, University of Belgrade, DOI: 10.5937/tehnika2006782T Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, Belgrade MILOVAN G. KOVAČ, University of Belgrade, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, Belgrade The development of logistics infrastructure in Serbia is the key to achieving regional competitiveness and economic prosperity of the state. Intermodal terminals have great significance in logistics networks and their development enables the implementation of intermodal transport technologies as well as participation in international goods flows. Belgrade, the national and regional economic centre and an important traffic node, attracts significant intermodal, container flows. For this reason, it represents a location for the development of an intermodal terminal that would play an important role in the logistics network of Serbia and the region as well. This paper analyses the financial justification of the development of an intermodal terminal in Belgrade, based upon four parameters – net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), benefit-cost ratio (B/C) and investment return period (RP). Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis of the observed parameters regarding the change of input parameter values (the volume of intermodal, container flows and the service price levels) is conducted. Two project funding scenarios are defined according to the involvement of the private sector in overall investments. The result analysis indicates that in both of the scenarios, the development of an intermodal terminal in Belgrade would be financially justified.

BG:VOZ - CONCEPT OF URBAN RAILWAY SERVICE IN BELGRADE Mirjana Bugarinović1*, Stanko Kantar2 1University of Belgrade, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering, Belgrade, Serbia 2City of Belgrade, Secretariat for City Traffic, Directorate for Public Transport *Contact person: [email protected] Abstract: The concept of urban rail service, BG:voz, represents a new urban rail public transport in Belgrade. So far, it is functioning on a 25 km long line with 9 stations. Today, after three years of BG:voz operations, realized traffic volume, quality of service and financial results show the feasibility of this concept and justify the need to enhance the system. Analysis of the system performances indicates that with the introduction of new stations, the improvement of existing ones and increase of the number of train departures will result in even more modern rail public transport services with a comparatively small investment compared to the effect. Key Words: BG:voz, Urban rail service 1. INTRODUCTION Urban rail refers to passenger rail systems in urban areas, which have high capacity and provide high frequency of service, with grade separation from other traffic, typically running underground or on elevated tracks [3]. Different cities may have different names for these systems. The system is referred to as mass rapid transit in Chennai, Queensland, Singapore, metro in Madrid, Paris and Budapest, subway in New York, Chicago and Boston and tube or underground in London. What about rail service that used railway infrastructure in urban area and operate as mass rapid transit? It’s called the urban railway or “almost” metro.

As he was an ardent supporter of historical tendencies or eclec sm, he modeled his view of town reconstruc on on a reinterpreta on of the past and the interna onal heritage. Daring ideas in his Plan have been a steady inspira on to genera ons of urban planners, and some of these ideas are s ll employed, with same mo fs but using diff erent technique, dynamism or method. Urban Planning Ins tute of Belgrade is s ll searching for solu ons for: turning the city towards Sava River, estab- lishing and maintaining the old and the New Belgrade city axes, promo on and maintenance of the City’s natural core, waterfront enhancement, dis nguishing signifi cant landmarks and strengthening the city iden- ty through introduc on of City symbols. In a me of long-las ng transi on and prepara on for Belgrade to become one of the European metropolises, Urban Planning Ins tute has been ac ve on two parallel tracks. Being one of the City public service u li es, it follows and supports City Administra on in recovery of residen al areas built without due planning, build- ing and reconstruc on of capital infrastructure and transporta on systems, in preparing loca ons for new schools and nurseries, and construc on of non-profi t social housing units.

8. juna 1871. grad dobija status slobodnog carskog grada. Hrvatski jezik 1882. postaje službeni jezik u gradu.

It is considered that the processes of globalization and market mechanisms have led to the ’break down’ of urban structures into numerous specialized localities, by way of developing economic clusters and other activities. The development of new economic poles in cities is a consequence of activating new localities and changing the present territorial organization and the development of ’knowledge-based’ economic activities. In city Belgrade the new economic districts – new industrial, commercial, entrepreneurial zones developed systematically or spontaneously in the suburban areas (along highways) have a major role in spatial development of economic activities and in the planning of territorial organization of that metropolitan areas. Batajnica Wastewater Facilities Project Financing WBIF Grant WB13-SER-ENV-01 € 816,000 EBRD Loan € 44,000,000 International Donor Other Sources € 13,000,000 Total € 57,816,000 Total Grants € 816,000 Total Loans € 44,000,000 Project Description Belgrade is the capital and the largest city in Serbia, with a population of approximately 1.7 million people in its metropolitan area. Although the city has a solid infrastructure for drinking water, it lacks basic wastewater treatment facilities, and the wastewater flows (sewerage and stormwater) are directly discharged into the Sava and Danube rivers without any prior treatment. The sewerage system covers an area of approximately 180 km2 and includes collectors (212.5 km), pipeline canals (1,464.8 km), pump stations and other facilities, and 54,027 sewerage connections. It is divided into five independent zones (Central, Banat, Batajnica, Ostruznica, and Bolec) and wastewater treatment plants are planned to be constructed in each zone. Batajnica covers the northern and western sections of the urban area and has been selected to be the first area for construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and associated systems, with a total capacity of 165,000 p.e. The WBIF, through a grant mobilised thanks to Bilateral Donors' contributions, finances the costs associated with the preparation of the technical documentation required for the construction of the WWTP (feasibility study and preliminary design) and the wastewater collection system and pumping stations (feasibility study, preliminary design, main design, and technical control). The construction of the Batajnica WWTP and of the associated sewer system will decrease cross-border groundwater and surface water pollution along the Danube, in addition to enabling the socio-economic development of the City of Belgrade.
