Future Railway Power Supply Bane NOR Energi, Planning dept. Nils Grønneberg 2017-02-02 Bane NOR Energi’s assignment Ensure an adequate and stable railway power supply at the correct voltage and frequency. Sounds simple… …but we can’t do it without a lot of help from others! We will see a number of projects in the next few years, which directly affect our railway power supply. 2 Railway network undergoing development The section maps of the future will look different. NTP 2018 – 2029 is aggressive: • More people to travel by train • Environmentally-friendly transport • Significant increase in capacity • Higher frequency of departures • Significant reduction of travel time This means: • More sections • New tracks on the sections • More double track • Electrification 3 Consequences for railway power supply Factors with a direct effect: • Increase in passenger traffic – new timetables • Increase in freight traffic • New rolling stock • Increasing power required • Modernisation of overhead contact line system (with autotransformers) Action by Bane NOR: • New systems must be constructed • Existing systems must be upgraded • Maintenance must be intensified • New studies, master plans and analyses of load flow and stability 4 Bane NOR power system study National overview of the power systems. • Overarching report A shared starting point PSSP Referrals References • Describes the current system • Results and recommendations from section-based studies, simulations, analyses and Section-based studies measurements. • Overall plans 5 Major projects A selection of projects: • New double track for Vestfold Line towards Tønsberg • New double track for Farriseidet – Porsgrunn • Follo Line, Oslo – Ski • Electrification of Trønder and Meråker lines – near Trondheim • Ringerike Line, Sandvika – Hønefoss • New double track for Dovre Line, Kleverud – Sørli • Upgrade of overhead contact line on Kongsvinger Line • Double track for Østfold Line – western route • Upgrade of Østfold Line – eastern route • Upgrade of Dovre Line, north • Introduction of new rolling stock to the Gjøvik Line • Boost with mobile static converters 6 Studies for new major projects A selection of studies: • Double track for Ofoten Line, Narvik – Kiruna • Double track for Sørlandet Line, Nærbø – Sandnes • Double track for Dovre Line, Hamar – Lillehammer • Double track for Vestfold Line, Tønsberg – Larvik • Grenland Line, Porsgrunn – Skorstøl • Double track for Bergen Line, Arna – Voss • Kongsberg Line, Hokksund – Kongsberg • Linking of Gjøvik Line to Dovre Line • Electrification of Røros Line, Hamar – Elverum – Støren • Electrification of Solør Line, Hamar – Elverum – Kongsvinger 7 Typical procurements – Bane NOR Energi Studies and master plans • Calculations and financial uncertainty analyses • Network analyses (stability, resonance) • Concept development • RAMS analyses • Planning processes • Site plans • Noise calculations and noise plan • Surveys, environmental and biological diversity • Risk analyses • Preliminary inspections and site assessments 8 Typical procurements – Bane NOR Energi Detailed planning phase • Concept development, system definition • Tender documents and specifications: - earthwork - building requirements - electrotechnical requirements • Consultancy services • General project assistance • Acquisition of land 9 Typical procurements – Bane NOR Energi Implementation phase/construction phase • EPC contracts for converter stations • Assistance of construction client • Site assessments • Supply (and development) of converters • Supply of transformers • Supply of high-voltage breaker systems • Supply of protection and control equipment • Revisions • Transport, lifting, installation, fitting • Inspections • etc. 10 .
