A deeply intelligent and sensitive pianist, Mitsuko Uchida has built up a reputation as a superlative performer of the works of Mozart, Schubert, Schumann and Beethoven. Her devotion to Alban Berg and has illuminated the piano music of these two composers and their place within the central repertoire.

Mitsuko Uchida has a long history of performing with the world’s most respected orchestras – Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Berliner Philharmoniker, Concertgebouworkest, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, London Symphony and London Philharmonic Orchestras and recently celebrated her 100th concert with The . She has worked with many renowned conductors including , , , Sir , Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Jurowski, Andris Nelsons and .

Since 2016, Mitsuko Uchida is an Artistic Partner of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, with whom she is embarking on a five-year touring project across Europe and North America. She also appears regularly in recital in , Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, London, New York and Tokyo, and is a regular guest at the Mozartwoche in Salzburg and Salzburger Festspiele.

Mitsuko Uchida records exclusively for Decca and her extensive discography includes the complete Mozart and Schubert piano sonatas. She received a Grammy Award in 2011 for her recording of Mozart concerti directing The Cleveland Orchestra, and in 2017 for an album of Lieder with Dorothea Röschmann. Her recording of the Schoenberg with and The Cleveland Orchestra won four awards, including The Gramophone Award for Best Concerto.

A trustee of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust and Director of Marlboro Music Festival, in 2015, Uchida was awarded the Golden Mozart Medal from the Stiftung Mozarteum in Salzburg and the from the Association. She was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Philharmonic Society in 2012 and received an Honorary Degree from the University of Cambridge in 2014.

Mitsuko Uchida was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2009.
