Lewisham & Lee Green LTN Monitoring 2 Bus Journey Times: Monitoring Area

Bus journey time monitoring has focussed on the area shown below. Journey times are presented in this deck for 3 key corridors (highlighted orange) which have seen the highest bus delays: • Brownhill Road between The Centre & Baring Road Note: Journey times presented consider route 202 only as this is the only route that covers the whole corridor • Burnt Ash Hill/Burnt Ash Road between Baring Road & Lee Road Note: Journey times presented include routes 202 & 261 - these run along the majority of the corridor • Lee High Road/ Road between Station & Park Road Note: Journey times presented include routes 122, 178, 261 & 321 - these run along the majority of the corridor This map shows the area of focus for bus journey time monitoring. Data is available for all sections of all bus routes but the 3 orange corridors are considered in this report. 3 Bus Journey Times: Methodology

Data • Weekly iBus data has been used for this analysis. This gives weekday (Mon-Fri) average journey times by route, stop-to-stop link and peak. These journey times exclude dwell times at stops. Corridor averages • Journey times have been summarised by route, by taking the total journey time across stop-to-stop links along the corridor and dividing by the length of these links, to give a minutes per km figure. • Where corridors include multiple routes (i.e. Burnt Ash Hill / Burnt Ash Road & Lee High Rd / Eltham Rd), a corridor figure was found by taking a weighted average across the route level figures, weighted by the route frequency. • It is these corridor averages that are shown on the graphs. Thresholds • The first set of graphs show the corridor averages plotted against thresholds. • These thresholds were found by taking the mean journey time +/- 1 standard deviation during the pre-Covid baseline period (11 March 2019 – 13 March 2020*). • This allows for a reasonable amount of week-to-week variation but gives a threshold above which minutes per km figures would be deemed above “normal”. * Week commencing 20th May 2019 has been excluded due to missing data 4 Bus Journey Times: Brownhill Road (7am-7pm) 5 Bus Journey Times: Burnt Ash Rd / Hill (7am-7pm) 6 Bus Journey Times: Lee High Rd / Eltham Rd (7am-7pm) 7 Bus Journey Times: Brownhill Road (by peak)

Note: The peaks shown are AM = 7-10am, Inter = 10am-4pm, PM = 4-7pm, 12hr = 7am-7pm 8 Bus Journey Times: Burnt Ash Road/Hill (by peak)

Note: The peaks shown are AM = 7-10am, Inter = 10am-4pm, PM = 4-7pm, 12hr = 7am-7pm 9 Bus Journey Times: Lee High Rd / Eltham Rd (by peak)

Note: The peaks shown are AM = 7-10am, Inter = 10am-4pm, PM = 4-7pm, 12hr = 7am-7pm 10 Freight & Traffic Journey Times & Flows: Methodology

Journey Times • Freight & Traffic Journey Times have been reported using Congestion Analysis Project (LCAP) links. This data is based on automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) camera captures and comprises links between these cameras. • Average journey times have been calculated by week, by peak. The baseline shown is a 12 hour (7am-7pm) average from the equivalent week one year prior. • 4 links have been considered (one in each direction along Brownhill Road/Westhorne Avenue between Catford Gyratory & Alwold Crescent, and one in each direction along Molesworth Street/ Road down to Hill Road) Flows • Freight & Traffic Flows on the A205 have been reported using SCOOT detectors. This data is based on occupancy. It does not give an accurate number of vehicles but can be used to look at trends in flows. • The SCOOT detectors used were on the A205 at the junction between Brownhill Road, Lane, St Mildred’s Road and Verdant Lane. Flows are given by day of week, for 7am-7pm. • General trends in Freight & Traffic Flows have been reported using automatic traffic counter (ATC) data for weekdays, 7am-7pm, for the A2, A20, A21 & A205 combined. 11 Freight & Traffic Journey Times: Brownhill Road

Note: Both links are ~3.0km long. The peaks shown are AM = 7-10am, Inter = 10am-4pm, PM = 4-7pm, 12hr = 7am-7pm 12 Freight & Traffic Journey Times: Bromley Road

Note: NB link is ~4.6km long and SB link is ~5.0km long. The peaks shown are AM = 7-10am, Inter = 10am-4pm, PM = 4-7pm, 12hr = 7am-7pm 13 Freight & Traffic Flows: A205 Eastbound

Taken from SCOOT detector A205 Eastbound at the junction between Brownhill Road, Hither Green Lane, St Mildred’s Road and Verdant Lane. Note that SCOOT data does not accurately measure the number of vehicles but can be used to look at trends in flows.

Taken from SCOOT detector A205 Westbound at the junction between Brownhill Road, Hither Green Lane, St Mildred’s Road and Verdant Lane. Note that SCOOT data does not accurately measure the number of vehicles but can be used to look at trends in flows.

Automatic Traffic Counters (ATC) on the TLRN have been used to look at flow changes in the surrounding area. Total daily kilometres travelled on the A2, A20, A21 & A205 have been considered below, for weekdays only, 7am-7pm. At their lowest in April, flows were ~45% lower than last year. In October, flows were ~5-10% lower than last year.
