GOOSENECK TRAIL #112 General Attractions: This trail traverses the length of “the gooseneck” within Kanab Creek Wil- derness. The Gooseneck is a long peninsula of land which towers 2,000 feet above the surrounding countryside. Spectacular vistas of the drainages and portions of the National Park reward the traveler of this trail. The trail twists and turns through pinyon and juniper woodlands before its abrupt end high above Jumpup and Sowats Canyons. Fee: None Access: 1/4 mile south of the Kaibab Plateau Visitor Center on AZ 67, turn right on Forest Devel- opment Road (FDR) 461 and go 5.5 miles to FDR 462 for 3 miles to FDR 22; turn left on FDR 22 and go 8.5 miles to FDR 447; turn right on this road and go 4 miles to FDR 427, turn left and go 2 miles to FDR 227. Turn right and follow FDR 227 for 7 miles to the trailhead. FDRs 461, 462, 22 and 447 are suitable for passenger cars. A high clearance vehicle is recommended on the other roads.
