YOUR WAY TO IMD & EPFL

Dear Participants to the BCERC 2010,

In this brochure you will find useful information on how to get to IMD and EPFL from your hotel.

Please note that at the time of check-in you will receive a free travel pass for public transport (Metro and buses) for the duration of your stay. Please keep this card with you during your stay in Lausanne.

The Lausanne Metro system includes two lines in Lausanne. The Line M1 (TSOL) is a light metro with only three underground stations. The Line M2 is a fully automated metro which is 8 km (5 mi) long and links the center of Lausanne, crossing the whole city of Lausanne from north to south.

On Thursday, June 10, in the morning you will find EPFL & IMD staff and students at “Lausanne Ouchy, Lausanne Flon and EPFL” Metro stations. Please do not hesitate to contact them if you have any questions.

How to find your way to IMD on Wednesday, June 9

IMD is located in Ouchy, the Southern part of Lausanne, near the shores of Lake Geneva.

Please note that at the time of check-in you will receive a free pass for Lausanne public transport (Metro and buses) for the duration of your stay. Please keep this card with you during your stay in Lausanne.

Please find below a detailed description on how to get to IMD from any hotel in the city center:

• Take the Metro M2 direct line in direction "Ouchy"

• Exit the Metro at "Ouchy" (final stop)

• When you exit the metro station in Ouchy, turn right and walk for 800 meters on Avenue de Rhodanie (main street along the lake), you will pass by the Mövenpick hotel, continue straight on the Avenue de Rhodanie for about 300 meters and you will then see IMD on your right.

• The registration on Wednesday, June 9 and welcome reception will take place in the Maersk, Moller, Mc-Kinney Center.

If you are staying in an hotel in the Southern part of Lausanne (AuLac, Mövenpick, Beau-Rivage, Château d’Ouchy, Angleterre, Nash Carlton), IMD is located at a 5 to 10 minutes walking distance, please have a look at the “Lausanne South” map on the previous page to find your way to the campus. If you are staying in an hotel close to the train station, you may either take the Metro M2 to Ouchy or walk down to IMD (15 to 20 minutes walking distance).

How to find your way to EPFL

EPFL is located to the west of down-town Lausanne near the shores of Lake Geneva. The campus can be easily reached using the metro (TSOL) line M1, connecting the campus (EPFL) to downtown (Lausanne Flon).

Please note that at the time of check-in you will receive a free pass for Lausanne public transport (Metro and buses) for the duration of your stay. Please keep this card with you during your stay in Lausanne.

Please find below a detailed description on how to get to EPFL:

• If you come from the south lake district or from the main station, you will be able to catch the metro m2 until the stop "Flon". From 'Flon', change to metro line m1 which takes you directly to EPFL (if your hotel is located in town, simply get to the metro station called 'Flon' and catch the m1 from there to 'EPFL').

• Exit the Metro at "EPFL"

• Thursday's registration will take place at the 'Polyvalente' hall at EPFL. The building is at a 5 minutes walking distance from the EPFL metro station. Take the Ch. de la Sorge (main road parallel to the metro line) and turn right on Avenue Piccard. Follow this street for ca 100m, and then take the stairs on either side of the street up to the first level. Turn to your left if you face the lake (turn to the right when facing the metro line) and enter the building (CE - Centre Est). The first hall is Polyvalente (please see the map included)

• The opening reception will take place in the auditorium of the . The Rolex Learning Center is at a 5 minutes walking distance from the CE – Building. Take the Av. Piccard towards the lake until the end. You will see the main Entrance. Inside the Building follow the information signs guiding you to the “Rolex Forum” where the Reception will take place.
