Introduction

Widecombe-in-the-Moor lies in the valley of the , between Bonehill Down and Hamel Down. It has remained a small service centre for a large agricultural parish for most of its existence, but is now one of the best known and most visited villages in the National Park. While there are local economic benefits to be gained from this, there are

also disadvantages in the form of traffic congestion, visitor pressure and signage.
