As early as 820, St.Gallen had three breweries marked on the map St.Gallen of its Abbey District. The Schützengarten brewery was found- ed in 1779 and is today the oldest brewery in Switzerland. Still in the original location, Schützengarten is a successful, inde- pendent company and one of the most modern breweries in Switzerland. A visit to the brewery includes a visit to the beer bottle museum and a guided tour of the production plant. The participants experience the art of brewing in St.Gallen first hand. The journey starts in the St.Gallen Textile Museum. Here, the participants will gain fascinating insights into the developments and prospects of the textile industry from the Middle Ages to the present. They are then taken in a vintage post bus out of town to the landside, passing huge orchards that entice with their blossoms during spring and later with succulent fresh fruit. The next stop is the Saurer Museum in Arbon with its embroidery and weaving machines and vehicles from the Saurer production. From Arbon to Rorschach, one switch to a boat from the vintage post bus.
