If you haven’t been in the James Dunn Theatre (JDT) lately, you may not have noticed our improvements. Over the last few years there have been some modifications in the house which include the addition of railings in the aisles and new carpeting on the stairs and in the audience seating areas. In addition, all the seats have been steam cleaned!

We also have new chairs and risers in the acting classroom. Keep your eyes open for a mini theatre series in our 45 seat theatre lab. Many of you may have noticed the marquee sign out on Sir Francis Drake Blvd., but did you also notice the television screens in the lobbies and dressing room? Fantastic!

For those of you who like technology, our electrical system and lighting equipment have been upgraded as well. Out with the old dimmer racks and in modernization with the new! We now have an LED lighting system with new dimmer racks to support our old equipment as well as the new, and a new light board to

28 control it all! This equipment will come in very handy when we launch our new Certificate Program in Technical Theatre. In addition to providing amazing performance opportunities, these recent upgrades to the lighting system have made the JDT one of the most advanced in Northern California.

And lastly, we have a level stage floor! This summer the theatre was shut down for the full demo and replacement of the stage floor right down to the concrete subfloor. Included in these improvements were the installation of new trap doors that are smaller and made of lightweight materials for ease of use.

Coming in the summer of 2019 are the final upgrades to the JDT with the addition of a new sound system and laser projector! modernization For more information about our amazing facility or for rental information, go to: facilities.marin.edu
