AASTANÄITUS / 11th ANNUAL EXHIBITION OF ESTONIAN ARTISTS’ ASSOCIATION ABSTRAKTNE / ABSTRACT 01.07.-14.08.2011 / From July 1st through August 14th, 2011 Läbi 20. sajandi on Lääne kunstis kujutava kõrval võrd- väärsena esinenud mittekujutav kunst, olles mõnel perioodil olnud domineeriv. Tallinna Kunstihoone / Tallinn Art Hall Ka kunstiõppe protsessis käsitletakse mittekujutavat laadi KuKu klubi / KuKu Club ikka veel abivahendina oskuste omandamiseks kujutavasse KuKu kohvik / KuKu Cafe kunsti. Sageli seotakse seda vaid kompositsiooniõppega, Kuraator ja kujundus / Curated and design by mitte aga võimalusena end loovalt väljendada. In some local artists’ work, examples of abstract art as mainstream trend were used only for a few times not earlier than in the late 1960s. Nonfi gurative art became entirely liberated when Estonian independence was regained in 1990s – therefore, abstractionism in Estonian art has existed not more than just for twenty years. At the present day, there are numerous nonfi gurative artists in Estonia; also, during the last few years a remarkable rise of abstract art can be observed both here and abroad. However, neither Estonian art audience nor a few local art collectors are not used to abstract art due to the tragic history of Estonian culture – this art movement has simply not been adopted here. In the process of art studies, nonfi gurative art is still being treated as an aid for acquiring skills of fi gurative art. It is often associated to composition studies and not considered to be an option for creative self-expression. Depiction and object-based environment dominates even in modern conceptualism, including media, computer and interet art. Unlike con- temporary music that has discarded obsolete narratives and forced melodies, art hardly ever studies the sphere of human mind that has left reality and the surface of visual world in order to enter the dimension of pure contempla- tion where instead of depiction various imagery has been expressed. In fact, the human being lives a signifi cant part of his or her life namely in abstract world. What’s more, artists must be equipped with a deeper philosophical basis, intellectual analysis and orientation ILMUNUD AJAKIRJANDUSES / PUBLICATIONS: towards pure energy when practising abstract art, instead MAI LEVIN „Kui abstraktne on abstraktne kunst?“. of merely depicting something. During about the quarter of the century that has elapsed after regaining independence, our scientific landscape has changed radically. The lion’s share of research work is integrated with providing university education. The targets for the following seven years were defined at the very start of the year, in the document adopted by Riigikogu (Parliament) on January 22, 2014 and entitled “Estonian research and development and innovation strategy 2014- 2020. Knowledge-based Estonia”. It starts with the acknowledgement familiar to all of us that the number and complexity of challenges faced by the society is ever increasing.

ABSTRACT A RESEARCH ON A RECONFIGURABLE HYPAR STRUCTURE FOR ARCHITECTURAL APPLICATIONS Kinetic design strategy is a way to obtain remarkable applications in architecture. These kinetic designs can offer more advantages compared to conventional ones. Basic knowledge of different disciplines is necessary to generate kinetic designs. In other words, interdisciplinary studies are critical.

A politikailag kényes időkben a AZ ÉSZT DALOSÜNNEP sokszor több tízezer fő alkotta kórus a Dalosünnep helyszínére csábította az észt nemzet csaknem egyharmadát. Sokáig éljen a Dalosünnep! 1 long line of people snakes along a street, its head and tail nowhere in sight.
