Seonyudo Island Seonyudo Island is one of the West Sea’s hidden treasures. Taoist hermits were said to gain their miraculous powers here. Today, this island is con- sidered the most beautiful of the Gogunsan’s 63 is- lands. Trek the easy trail Seonyudo Island is connected to the nearby Mu- nyeodo, Jangjado, and Daejangdo islands, so you can enjoy all of them on foot. Course A is 11 kilometers long and includes stops at Manjubong, a prayer lighthouse, and Dae- jangbong peak. udae-jjigae, or Army base stew, is a spicy sausage steww made with ham, sausage, spam, baked beans, gochujangg B(red chili paste) and kimchi. You may notice this dish isn’tt Korea’s traditional food handed down from generation to gen-- eration. The dish was created shortly after the , usingg surplus foods from U.S. military bases. Budae-jjigae is mixturee of Korean stew and western ingredients. At the time, the dishh served as a great source of nourishment in post-war poverty-- stricken Korea and remains popular to this day. Whether the inventive creators of the budae-jjigae meant too or not, the delicious harmony of Spam and spicy Korean ingre-- dients has made the dish part of peninsula cuisine. You’ll findd budae-jjigae served at many restaurants, but you can make thiss at home when you’re trying to get rid of leftover ingredients inn your fridge, too.
