POSITION PURPOSE-EMT AND PARAMEDIC AMBULANCE
Responds to an emergency medical call and assesses the situation and obtains a basic medical history and the physical examination of the patient and provide emergency medical care rather BLS or ALS at the scene or while in transport to a hospital emergency room. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Communicates with the medical care facility receiving the patient about the patient’s condition, status, and treatment and changes while transporting, upon arrival at the Emergency Department.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Resume submitted with past experience and professional references
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Ky driver’s license
Certified EMT or Paramedic
EMT’S
Valid NREMT/Ky EMT card
Valid BLS Provider card through the American Heart Association
Valid Pediatric Head Trauma Class
Bloodborne Pathogens class
And any other certifications required by the Kentucky Board of EMS.
EMT-P’S
Valid NREMT/EMT-P provider card
BLS Provider card through the AHA
PALS Provider card
ACLS provider
Any other certifications required by the Kentucky Board of EMS. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
All applicants must maintain a current Driver’s License
All applicants must complete and maintain a certification of KBEMS approved EVOC/Defensive Driving course.
Maintains working knowledge of vehicles and equipment carried and location on the ambulance.
Maintains the cleanliness of the ambulance stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of the shift.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employee must be willing and able to multi-task while providing patient care and directing on scene emergency responses and conditions. Must be willing to work in less than desirable conditions while providing patient care. Position frequently requires being exposed to blood, body tissues or other fluids, seasonal conditions in outside weather, hazardous materials, loud noises, and electrical hazards.
