7D5N Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong & Chengdu + 2D1N Emeishan & Leshan extension

DAY 1: Chengdu arrival - Dujiangyan (D) Arrival in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, 1.40pm on Air Asia D7320 flight. Transfer to Dujiangyuan for visit of UNESCO World Heritage Dujiangyan Irrigation system. It is the brain-child of Li Bing, who in 256 BC diverted the fast-flowing Min river into irrigation canals, thus ending flooding of the Chengdu plain forever. Overnight in Dujiangyan.

DAY 2: Dujiangyan - Taoping - Huanglong (B/L/D) Transfer to visit Taoping village of ethnic Qiang people, notable for having watchtowers above their houses. Then head north via Maoxian to Huanglong. Overnight at hotel in Huanglong.

DAY 3 : Huanglong - Jiuzhaigou (B/L/D) Visit UNESCO World Heritage Huanglong National Park. Huanglong means ‘Yellow Dragon’ and the name alludes to the yellow-tinged calcium carbonate and limestone deposits found there. The deposits form layers that resemble a dragon’s skin. Take the cable car to the top section. Enjoy the scenery while walking down back to the starting point. (If Huanglong is closed due to bad weather, alternative visit such as to Munigou will be done). Transfer to Jiuzhaigou to overnight.

DAY 4: Jiuzhaigou (B/L/D) Have the whole day to explore UNESCO World Heritage Jiuzhaigou Nature Reserve. Jiuzhaigou means “Nine Village Gully”, referring to the 9 Baima Tibetan villages located in the valley. Main sights visited will be Rhinoceros Lake, Nuo Ri Lang Waterfall, Mirror Lake, Pearl Shoals & Waterfall, Peacock Riverbed, Five Flower Lake, Panda Lake and Arrow Bamboo Lake. Other sights can be visited subject to time available (tour guide will advise). Overnight in Jiuzhaigou.

DAY 5: Jiuzhaigou - Chengdu (B/L/D) Transfer back to Chengdu. Enjoy dinner with Sichuan Opera performance. Overnight in Chengdu.

DAY 6: Chengdu departure (B/L) Visit Panda Research Base, Jinxi Ancient town and Chunxi walking street (Dinner on your own). Transfer to airport for 11.55pm flight home.

2D1N Emeishan & Leshan extension

DAY 6: Chengdu - Emeishan (D) After Panda Research Base and lunch (as per main tour above), transfer to Mt. Emei and visit Bao Guo Si and Fuhu Si temples. Then take cable car (return ticket inclusive) to Golden Summit. Overnight at Jinding Hotel, located near Golden Summit.

DAY 7: Emeishan – Leshan - Chengdu departure (B/L) Visit Jinding Si Temple. OPTIONAL: pax can hike to 10,000 Buddha Summit (2 hours return) or take monorail (ticket not included - pay direct).

Descend Emeishan by cable car. After lunch, transfer to visit Leshan Buddha. Take boat cruise to view the Leshan Buddha.

OPTIONAL: transfer by coach to the Leshan Buddha itself to view up close the top (head section) and then climb down to the bottom (feet section) – CNY 90 entrance fee not included – pay direct).

Transfer to Chengdu to visit Jinxi Ancient town OR Chunxi walking street (Dinner on your own).Transfer to airport for 11.55pm flight home.
