Sacred Relics Of The Saints: Treasures Of The Church On Saturday, May 15th, the faithful have the oppor- tunity to venerate the sacred remains of the Church’s heroes.

Father Carlos Martins, a Custos Reliquiarum (ecclesiastically-appointed curate of relics), will return to Minnesota in April with a Vatican exhibit of more than 150 sacred relics. Immensely popular, it is high- lighted by some of the largest remaining fragments of the Wood of the True Cross in the world and a piece of the Veil that belonged to the Blessed Virgin.

Each exposition begins with a presentation on relics that provides the catechetical and spiritual basis for the veneration that follows. The teaching presents the basic Gospel message: God wants to be encountered; He touches us through the lives and the sacred re- mains of His saints.

“God never disappoints ... he always ‘shows up,’” remarks Fr. Martins. “There are healings at every exposition. Hun- dreds, perhaps even thousands, have been reported. Spectacular ones. Attendees have reported cancer, heart dis- ease, tumors, osteoporosis, physical deformities, etc., disappear immediately and completely.” Though a great num- ber of miracles have been physical (the exhibit’s website lists a sample of these), he admits that the most spectacu- lar is the healing of faith, where a new and deeper relationship with God and His saints are formed in the faithful. “It is a most wonderful thing to see a parish, school, or prison renewed after an exposition.”

Standing-room-only crowds are typical at each location the exhibit visits. Invitations from and pastors desiring to host an exposition regularly pour into his office. “Many who attend the expositions experience a renewal of faith and are deeply moved by their encounters with these treasures of the Church,” remarks Cardinal Raymond Burke, former Prefect of the Supreme of the Apostolic Signatura. Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, of Galveston-Houston, who has hosted over 50 expositions in his Arch- alone, remarks, “As models and intercessors, the saints are our benefactors, aiding us with the example of their lives and by their prayers.”

The world-touring exhibit includes relics of St. Joseph, all twelve Apostles, St. Maria Goretti, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Francis of Assi- si, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Thomas Aquinas, and St. Faustina Kow- alska. Francis has issued a special Plenary for all those who attend this exhibit.

The Church of St. Dominic presents a teaching and exposition of Sa- cred Relics on Saturday May 15 at 6:00 pm. Admission is free. For more information and for confession and Mass times visit St. Domi- nic Church’s website at https://churchofstdominic.org. All are wel- come. Mass. 4:30pm on Saturdays and 8:30am and 1:30p.m. on Sundays. All are welcome to pray.

ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE 5th Sunday of Easter

“Spiraling out of control,” is a phrase that can easily describe the current display of human existence. In addition to the vio- lence, unrest, uneasiness and turmoil that are common ele- ments of our daily news, other essential pieces are misplaced or missing. Many lack an objective center around which to or- der and structure their lives or a clear set of definable goals or mores to act as guideposts and life directives. It appears that “feelings” have become a “new god” and traditional structures and ideals set aside. It is almost as if history only shows that we got this whole thing wrong and many are determined to finally set things right. The real truth, however, is that while wrongs and errors are certainly a part of our often-checkered The Pope’s Monthly Intention past, it is hardly the case that all was wrong. It is not our task for May 2021 to rewrite the history of our lives, but to learn from mistakes that were made, and preserve the perennial wisdom at the root of our successes. Learning is an essential part of being The World of Finance human. Let us pray that those in charge of finance will work with governments to regulate the financial sphere and protect The question becomes, however, from whom do we learn? citizens from its dangers. Some have such a hard time placing God in that position, but that is precisely where God needs to be. God is the Master Teacher from whom all of humanity learns and gets its cues. It is in and through this relationship with the Gardener of Life Prayer Request that we are fashioned and pruned into the people we are in- Please pray for Sister Daniel Marie Kukowski, tended to be and can be. Yet, our If you would like to add someone’s name to the prayer list, resurrection faith tells us differently. We are reminded, today please call the Parish Office at 507-645-8816. especially, that we are meant to remain in Christ as Christ re- mains in us. We are also reminded that Jesus, the Incarnate God, is the vine upon which we grow, the branches that flow from the source of God’s life.

Giving up our will to God’s can be a painful endeavor. It is not easy to set our own desires and wants aside and allow God to step in and direct and guide our growth. But this is the only way to prevent deadly weeds from overtaking us and bringing us to a place of self-destruction. God’s commandments are the very guideposts and benchmarks we need, yet many seek to remove them from all public view because they appear to limit self-expression and suppress what is considered by many to be “human freedom.” They are the only way we can find freedom, however. And, until we learn this fundamental lesson, we will continue to spiral out of control, never really knowing who we are, what our potential can be or how life really can be lived. We will not know peace. ©LPi 5TH SUNDAY OF EASTER
