Yearbook Four 2017 Our fourth Hyundai Motorsport Yearbook explores the growth and milestones of our company during another exciting year. With new World Rally Championship (WRC) regulations, it was a challenging 12 months that provided some of the most thrilling competition of the modern era. Our new car, the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC, was a winning package on every surface and kept audiences transfixed on a championship battle that went all the way to the penultimate round… In 2017, we also branched out with our Customer Racing initiatives and welcomed a new circuit racer to our car line- up. The i30 N TCR joined the New Generation i20 R5 rally offering as part of our expanding customer activities. All this, and much more, is explored within these covers. The Orange Times Bruce McLaren Trust June / July 2014, Issue #2 Farewell Sir Jack 1926 - 2014 Along with the motorsport fraternity worldwide I was extremely saddened to th hear of Sir Jack’s recent passing on the 19 May. The McLaren family and Jack have shared a wonderful life-long friendship, starting with watching his early racing days in New Zealand, then Pop McLaren purchasing the Bobtail Cooper from Jack after the NZ summer racing season of 1957. For the following season of 1958, Jack made the McLaren Service Station in Remuera his base and brought the second Cooper with him from the UK for Bruce to drive in the NZIGP which culminated in Bruce being awarded the Celebrating 50 Years of “Driver to Europe”. Jack became his mentor and close friend and by 1959 McLaren Racing Bruce joined him as teammate for the Cooper Racing Team. The rest, as we say, is history but the friendship lived on and the BM Trust Following on from their Tasman Series was delighted to host Jack in New Zealand for a week of motorsport memories success, the fledgling BMMR Team set about in 2003 with Jack requesting that the priority of the trip was to be a visit to their very first sports car race with the Zerex see his “NZ Mum” Ruth McLaren, who, by then, was a sprightly 97 years old. th Special – on April 11 1964 at Oulton Park and I shared a very special hour with the two of them together and the love and this was a DNF/oil pressure. -

FACTBOOK 2019 WRC FACTBOOK 2019 / PROGRADE PHOTO OF THE YEAR WRC FACTBOOK 2019 / INTRO WRC FACTBOOK 2019 The 2018 WRC season will be remembered as the most exciting and dramatic in a generation. It is 15 years since a drivers’ title fight of similar magnitude and a compelling season-long battle involving three drivers was finally resolved on the last morning of the season in Australia. It was a similar story in the manufacturers’ championship. All four teams won rallies and three made the long journey Down Under still with an opportunity to claim the crown. Following a similarly enthralling and unpredictable 2017 cam- paign, when new-era World Rally Cars headlined a raft of major changes to the championship, it is clear our sport is in the midst of an unforgettable period in its history. Away from the close competition, the WRC has grown in stature. The year opened with a major launch at Birmingham’s Autosport International show and finished with a glamorous end of season gala in Sydney and with the cars showcased once more in front of Milan’s iconic cathedral in the Piazza del Duomo. Our pioneering WRC+ All Live channel revolutionised the way in which fans could enjoy the sport as it happened. Every special stage from each round was streamed live, featuring stunning onboard and helicopter footage. It was supplemented by expert analysis and reactions from across the service park – adding up to more than 325 hours of live coverage. Our traditional TV coverage thrived too. The WRC’s global audi- ence and the number of broadcast hours continue their positive trend of the last years. -

Vitesse! Page 3 Foreword Motorsport essentially consists of three ingredients. First, you need a motor vehicle - which can be anything from a Formula 1 car to a lawn mower, or from a MotoGP motorcycle to a pocket bike. Second, you need a driver or rider to operate the vehicle, and finally, a place to go racing - a circuit. To most people this last ingredient is probably the least interesting. The number of books about famous racing drivers and cars, or great riders and their motorcycles, is far larger than the number of books about racing circuits. However, to me circuits are the most interesting aspect of motorsport, for two main reasons. First is their great diversity: in terms of shape, layout, length, difficulty, fame and many other factors, every circuit is different, and each has its own story to tell. Second, it is fascinating to see just how many circuits there are. Once you start looking, you can find them just about any- where. Finding lost circuits or discovering long-forgotten tracks is one of the most fun aspects of researching racing circuits. When looking for information about racing circuits online, I often found it frustrating that the available sources were not complete, and that they often lacked detail and accuracy. This is one of the reasons why I started my website www.wegcircuits.nl and why I made Rennen! Races! Vitesse! - a downloadable pdf-file that lists racing circuits of past and present in four European countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. -

History The beginning of competition Motoring events began soon after the construction of the first successful gasoline-fueled automobiles. The first organized contest was on April 28, 1887, by the chief editor of Paris publication Le Vélocipède, Monsieur Fossier. It ran 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from Neuilly Bridge to the Bois de Boulogne. It was won by Georges Bouton of the De Dion-Bouton Company, in a car he had constructed with Albert, the Comte de Dion, but as he was the only competitor to show up it is rather difficult to call it a race. Another solo event occurred in 1891 when Auguste Doriot and Louis Rigoulot of Peugeot drove their gasoline-fueled Type 3 Quadricycle in the bicycle race from Paris–Brest–Paris. By the time they reached Brest, the winning cyclist Charles Terront was already back in Paris. In order to publicly prove the reliability and performance of the 'Quadricycle' Armand Peugeot had persuaded the organiser, Pierre Giffard of Le Petit Journal, to use his network of monitors and marshalls to vouchsafe and report the vehicle's performance. The intended distance of 1200 km had never been achieved by a motorised vehicle, it being about three times further than the record set by Leon Serpollet from Paris to Lyon.[1][2] Auto racing 2 Paris–Rouen: the world's first motoring contest On July 23, 1894, the Parisian magazine Le Petit Journal organized what is considered to be the world's first motoring competition from Paris to Rouen. -
