Comments about Sol Invictus - Faith No More

Mavivasa Worst album in their catalog. The people here hailing it as a masterpiece are likely fans of Blink 182 therefore are not qualified to have a unique thought in their hive minded head much less review something. Every album before this one was good, this was at best incohesive, boring and clearly a low effort money grab long after their prime.

Anazan So I have to justify my album review to you? I really don't think so. Music opinion man, it's a thing, and everyone's got one. And if I have to explain what's wrong with Blink 182 then I'm pretty sure we won't see eye to eye one way or the other.

Mpapa Something wrong with Blink 182? explain how is correlates please

Ranicengi my american black vinyl has surface noise and distortion...fwiw

Ishnllador Anyone else notice this is the only Patton-era FNM album NOT to start off with a blast (well, we could argue about "Faster Disco", but meh)? "From Out Of Nowhere", "", "Collision"?

Vaua I think that the songs are good. Superhero, Sunny Side Up, Cone Of Shame, Rise Of The Fall, Black Friday, Matador; these are all great songs but something is stinking here and I think it is the production. This album needs a more decent production because it misses the groove. This is not some irrelevant band, this is Faith No More! lucky kitten The only "original FNM-sound songs" FOR ME in this album, are SUPERHERO & CONE OF SHAME. The other tunes are completing an absolutelly static album, (which is a Mr Bungle + Tomahawk blend) . The sound of instruments is comfortable & "self-controlled" (which is not coming from recording or mixing BUT from the hands & the low energy of the band's members). Sometimes they sound like they re all over 65 years old. The ideas & the melodies are limited, salt & sugar together. This is not FNM for me. However, is not a bad album due to my respect to Mike Patton (what happened to you???)....ONE BLACK COOFFFEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please.....

Shan This album was pretty good. Apart from the atrocious track Motherfucker I think the songwriting is very solid and on par for this band. It is definetly a step up from the lacklustre Album of the year. Obviously the band never reaches the greatness of TRT or AD but that is not really to expected. Stand out tracks for me are Matador, Sol Invictus, Superhero and Separation Anxiety. The band sounds invigoured and I think that Bordin and Bottum really shines on this recording. My only gripe with album is the production, which is in my mind very unbecoming for the band. There is absolutely no bite or attack in the sound whatsoever and every time the band puts the pedal to the metal nothing really happens. Everything sounds too smooth and even complacent and the band would really have benefitted from some assistance in the production to make this sound as aggressive and urgent as it needs to be. I can only dream of what wonders Steve Albini might have done to this album. My second gripe is the guitarist John Hudson who is probably a very competent player by all accounts but has a guitar tone and playing style that is soooo lame and unprolific. Considering these two gripes it is for me a BIG loss for the band that they didn't get back into the fold for this reunion. His guitar work was something that made the band shine and his producing with Andy Wallace on TRT and AD could have been vital to this comeback record. So despite the overall success in the songwriting I can´t help feeling a bit let down by the production and the lame guitarwork. Hopefully the rectify this for their next album.

Flathan By the way, does anybody can say a real REVIEW & OPINON about the MUSIC???? Is it like "album of the year"..?? Is it familiar to other Patton's works (for ex. like Tomahawk)??? You all here say & say again about the pressing & the colours. I have ordered it in vinyl, i m still waiting for it & i really do not like to listen it from youtube or to dnld it! Music comes second...after the collective materials?

Vishura Can somebody say how is the pressing quality of the European Vinyl ? Is it 180g or 140 ?

GWEZJ thanks, got it 2 days after I wrote here.it's an OK pressing probably by OPTIMAL...after cleaning the Vinyl 3 times it's still noisy in 2 tracks.the US pressing planet gave them Bad test pressings so I think buying the EU version is still preferable.

Lanadrta 140 grams
