CUNY Athletic Conference 2002-03 Year In Review COMMISSIONER CUP HUNTER CLAIM CUP FOR 5TH TIME IN SIX SEASONS Hunter College cruisied to the CUNY Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup for the second consecutive academic year. The 2002-03 TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS Hawks also rised the trophy for the fifth time in six tries. The Purple WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY.............................................................YORK & Gold won nine CUNYAC tournament championships and seven MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY................................................................HUNTER regular season titles, en route to the most points (165) in the six- WOMEN’S TENNIS.........................................................................HUNTER year history of the award. Their 69-point margin of victory is the WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL.................................................................HUNTER second largest, behind a 75-point win in 1997-98. First, Borough of Manhattan CC failed to win the trophy for TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS the sixth consecutive season. Secondly, there was a tie for the top WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL......................................................BRONX spot between Bronx CC and Queensborough CC with 25 points MEN’S SOCCER..................................................................BRONX each. Both schools won two CUNYAC tournament titles and had WOMEN’S BASKETBALL...................................................MANHATTAN MEN’S BASKETBALL...................................................QUEENSBOROUGH one runner-up finish, to top BMCC by ten points. But since all of MEN’S BASEBALL.........................................................QUEENSBOROUGH the existing tie-breakers in place were exhausted, the schools will split the Cup for the season, before looking to win it outright in 2003-04. CUNYAC COMMUNITY COLLEGE The Bronx Broncos won the Community College Soccer COMMISSIONER’S CUP POINTS 2002-03 and Volleyball Tournaments and took home the silver in baseball in the spring after being beat by the Queensborough Tigers in the PL.
