A T20 century on New Years’s Day and another on Saturday in the Ford Trophy One Dayer. In recent weeks, 71 for the Aces and 97 for Parnell plus this ton, show him to be in tremendous form. Time to look at his marvelous cricketing career – only 23 now, Mark has heaps of experience starting from when he represented Hong Kong Under 15s. Vice Captain of Hong Kong in the last 2nd Tier World Cup, his career stats are outstanding. Mark is eligible for New Zealand selection (his Dad, Peter, is a New Zealander) and Mark has shelved aspirations for representing Hong Kong further. He was Head Prefect at King’s College, captained their 1st XI and, last year, completed his engineering degree. Mark’s performances at representative level speak for themselves – as can be seen from ESPNcricinfo’s stats below (to 6.2.2018 – yesterday’s 41 not included): Mark Chapman Hong Kong Full name Mark Sinclair Chapman Born June 27, 1994, Hong Kong Current age 23 years 223 days Major teams Hong Kong, Hong Kong Cricket Club,Hong Kong Under-15s, Hong Kong Under-19s Playing role Allrounder Batting style Left-hand bat Bowling style Slow left-arm orthodox Education King's College, Auckland Batting and fielding averages Mat Inns NO Runs HS Ave BF SR 100 50 4s 6s Ct St ODIs 2 2 1 151 124* 151.00 151 100.00 1 0 11 3 1 0 T20Is 19 18 1 392 63* 23.05 347 112.96 0 1 34 9 4 0 First-class 13 22 0 689 81 31.31 1103 62.46 0 6 90 9 10 0 List A 32 29 4 1388 157 55.52 1450 95.72 4 8 134 24 18 0 T20s 52 46 3 1036 101 24.09 795 130.31 1 5 86 36 14 0 Bowling averages Mat Inns Balls Runs Wkts BBI BBM Ave Econ SR 4w 5w 10 ODIs 2 - - - - - - - - - - - - T20Is 19 4 60 77 3 1/10 1/10 25.66 7.70 20.0 0 0 0 First-class 13 9 330 219 1 1/60 1/105 219.00 3.98 330.0 0 0 0 List A 32 16 353 377 7 2/27 2/27 53.85 6.40 50.4 0 0 0 T20s 52 17 210 281 10 3/22 3/22 28.10 8.02 21.0 0 0 0 Career statistics ODI debut United Arab Emirates v Hong Kong at ICCA Dubai, Nov 16, 2015 scorecard Last ODI United Arab Emirates v Hong Kong at ICCA Dubai, Nov 18, 2015 scorecard ODI statistics T20I debut Hong Kong v Nepal at Chittagong, Mar 16, 2014 scorecard Last T20I Hong Kong v Scotland at Nagpur, Mar 12, 2016 scorecard T20I statistics First-class debut Auckland v Northern Districts at Auckland, Dec 17-20, 2015 scorecard Last First-class Auckland v Canterbury at Auckland, Nov 24-26, 2017 scorecard List A debut Hong Kong v Uganda at ICCA 2 Dubai, Apr 8, 2011 scorecard Last List A Wellington v Auckland at Wellington, Feb 4, 2018 scorecard T20s debut Hong Kong v Italy at Abu Dhabi, Nov 15, 2013 scorecard Last T20s Auckland v Central Districts at Auckland, Jan 17, 2018 scorecard Recent matches Bat & Bowl Team Opposition Ground Match Date Scorecard 117 Auckland v Wellington Wellington 4 Feb 2018 LA 71, 0/13 Auckland v Northern D Whangarei 31 Jan 2018 LA 0/24, 0 Auckland v Central D Auckland 27 Jan 2018 LA 7 Auckland v Central D Auckland 17 Jan 2018 T20 5 Auckland v Otago Auckland 14 Jan 2018 T20 23 Auckland v Canterbury Auckland 10 Jan 2018 T20 57 Auckland v Northern D Auckland 7 Jan 2018 T20 101, 0/10 Auckland v Canterbury Christchurch 1 Jan 2018 T20 20 Auckland v Otago Alexandra 28 Dec 2017 T20 64 Auckland v Wellington Auckland 24 Dec 2017 T20 Chappie – for Hong Kong in the World Cup T20 Qualifiying series, March 2016 Chappie played marvelously – then frustration, and reflection following the narrow loss to Scotland - Photos from ESPNcricinfo website Men’s Premier Grade Hedley Howarth Trophy – Two Day Championship Resumes – ROUND 6. 27 Jan. & 3 Feb. Points – 1st innings points shared, 3 each plus bonus points. DAY 2. AND THE RAIN CAME DOWN Following a miserable, drizzly morning with no prospect of play starting on time, lunch was taken early at 12.45 pm. After lunch the heavens opened and it was no surprise when the umpires confered with the captains. Absolutely no prospect of play and the game was abandoned. Then, less than 15 minutes later, the sun came out – Auckland weather to a T! But, whilst we had some 90 minutes of sunshine, the rain continued to threaten and then came a final deluge. The Premier players by then had dispersed and it was left to the Pressies, prompted by Ian Trott who looked in after the Auckland Grammar game was abandoned, to remove and pack away the covers. A very necessary measure to save the pitch block from fungal attack and other damage. This was done in steady drizzle and it was good to note that the pitch itself, apart from one very small damp patch was as dry as a bone – the covers had done their duty! PLAY ABANDONED - PRESSIES, & IAN TROTT, PACK AWAY THE COVERS: ONE CAN SEE WHY THERE WAS NO PLAY!! THANKS GO TO IAN TROTT, ROD EDDOWES, GREG OLLIVER, GREG JAMES & MARC O’GORMAN FOR COMPLETING THIS TASK Hedley Howarth Trophy - Points at End of Round 6 TEAM P W L T D PTS BONUS PTS TOTAL POINTS 1.
