 OHIO LIGHT OPERA “BABES IN ARMS” Cost: $95 ($100 non-residents) Wednesday, June 27 Registration begins: April 2 Richard Rodgers, never at a loss for melody, and Lorenz Hart, ever-ready with a witty and poignant lyric, outdid even themselves in their 1937 musical hit “Babes in Arms”. The stage show and subsequent Judy Garland/Mickey Rooney film popularized the “kids….let’s put on a show” concept. To avoid being sent off to a work farm for the summer while their vaudevillian parents tour, teenagers, led by Val Lamar and his adoring girlfriend Billie, band together to produce a musical follies featuring former child actress Baby Rose. But prejudice among the ranks raises obstacles to their venture. Song hits include “My Funny Valentine”, “The Lady Is a Tramp”, “I Wish I Were In Love Again”, “Johnny One Note”, the rousing title song. Lunch will be at Broken Rocks Café in Wooster. Choice of either #1) Chicken Salad: A creamy blend of toasted walnuts, roasted free-range chicken, celery, onions, and raisins on focaccia with orange slices, or #2) Ham & Swiss: Honey-cured ham, baby swiss, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, and leaf lettuce on focaccia with potato salad, or #3) Veggie Pasta: Fresh local vegetables grilled and served with an olive oil and garlic sauce, on whole wheat penne with a sprinkle of parmesan. Coffee, Tea, and signature Strawberry Shortcake with crème anglaise. Please make menu choice when registering. After the show, we will make our annual stop at Hartzler’s Dairy for ice cream. Voted #1 RRSC bus trip. Ice cream purchase not included in the price. Board 10:00 am; Depart 10:15 am; estimated return 6:30 pm. Return registration with a SASE.

 MEADOW BROOK HALL Cost: $85 ($90 non-residents) Thursday, July 26, 2018 Registration begins April 2 A trip to Meadow Brook Hall is a MUST if you would like to take a look back and see how true Detroit Royalty lived. A National Historic Landmark, it is the historic home built by one of the automotive aristocracy’s most remarkable women, Matilda Dodge Wilson, widow of automobile pioneer John Dodge, and her second husband, lumber broker Alfred Wilson. Constructed between 1926 and 1929, the 110-room, 88,000 square-foot mansion represents one of the finest examples of Tudor-revival architecture in America. The expansive collection provides visitors with insight into local history that has had an international impact, making the estate, with its family archives and original furnishings, unlike any place you have seen before. We will be taking two tours of the estate, first of all the General tour and then it will be followed by a Behind-the-Scenes tour of the secret staircase, maids’ quarters, children’s play room, and the entire 4th floor. We will be served a gourmet lunch in Meadow Brook Hall consisting of: Roast Breast of Chicken with Mushroom Cream Sauce, Wild Rice Blend, and Seasonal Vegetable, served with roll, butter, fresh coffee/hot tea, and Apple Pie for dessert. As we step back in time, I trust every person will find amazement and an unforgettable wonder in visiting Meadow Brook Hall. Board 6:45 am; Depart 7:00 am; Estimated return 6:30 pm. Sorry, but no walkers or wheelchairs recommended on this trip- includes stair climbing. Please include a SASE with your registration.
