Page 13 President’s Report

The 2015-16 season for the Queanbeyan District Cricket will go down as one of the most successful in the club’s long history. Our Club is in excellent shape both on and off the field and this can be attributed to the hard working club membership along with valuable relationships with the Queanbeyan City Council and a strong list of fantastic sponsors.

On the field this season our club won 7 out of the 13 premierships up for grabs, that’s 50% of the competitions on offer which is an amazing effort and one that I don’t think would have been done too many times before. Our flagship First Grade team won both the T20 and One Day competitions. Second grade were T20 premiers, 3rd grade scooped the pool and won all 3 competitions for the 2nd year running, 4th grade were fantastic but fell at the last hurdle in all 3 finals, whilst our mighty 5th grade boys were dominant all year once again winning their competition. Our skippers Vele Dukoski, Darren Southwell, Peter Jensen and Aaron Thorne can be well satisfied of the way they lead their team’s season. Congratulations to all of our members this year who took the field and did our club proud!

I believe the culture within the club is extremely positive. We have an environment where players can improve and a lot of this has to do with the facilities we have at our disposal. Some of the credit for this goes to our Club Coach, Michael O’Rourke for the enthusiasm he showed whilst running our Thursday sessions.

I believe we are a Club that is going in the right direction. Decisions taken over the last few years have ensured our club will remain sustainable for many seasons to come, competitive and one that enjoys our cricket. Young First Grade opener Henry Hunt is a great example of what players can achieve at Queanbeyan. Henry made his Futures League debut at the end of last season after 2 years with our Club since coming over from Grenfell. He dominated at the U/19 championships in January earning himself Australian U/19 representation and a tour to the UAE. Henry scored three successive grade hundreds which is an excellent effort for a young opening batsman. Henry’s success this season is also a feather in the cap for our Club and City and we wish him all the very best in his cricketing career.

I mentioned above our facilities and I’ll repeat what I have said now on a number of occasions and that is our facilities at Freebody Oval and Town Park are close to the best in country . We are hugely proud of our home grounds and facilities and I thank everyone for continuing to show the respect they deserve.

Our relationship with the Queanbeyan Council continues to grow from strength to strength. We hosted two national carnivals this year featuring all State and Territory teams along with teams from Pakistan, Malaysia, New Zealand and Fiji whilst hosting International Defence Force Carnival games. Feedback was nothing but positive in all aspects which is a great reflection on our Club and City. Thank you to everyone who contributed to make these games a success.

I’d like to acknowledge our curator Greg Dawes for the excellent job he has done on the grounds now for a number of years. Dawesy showed a renewed enthusiasm for his work this year and I’d like to thank him for his efforts. The Grand Final wicket he produced for Third Grade in March was his best ever!

The challenge now for future committees is to maintain and further improve our facilities to keep Queanbeyan the best place to play cricket in the district.

Page 14

Thank you to all of our sponsors this season. We could not function in the way we have now for a number of years without your support. In particular I’d like to thank our major sponsors, the Kangaroos Club. Thanks also to ARIS and Coates Hire for their support and to our growing list of minor sponsors. I encourage everyone to get behind and support our sponsors whenever possible.

I would like to acknowledge our Committee for an outstanding job this season. We really have an excellent committee that goes about getting things done with a minimum of fuss. Great job by Vice presidents, Stephen Cross and Rohan Ditton, Secretary Ron Bates, Treasurer Matty Harding, and our general committee of Adrian Brunker, Peter Jensen, Derren Gillespie, Darren Southwell, Stephen Frost, Chris Howe, Beau Watts and Stephen Moore.

Our Club is also extremely fortunate to have the support of mums and dads, wives and girlfriends around the pavilion. We can’t operate the way we do without your support. There are too many to list but we can’t thank you enough.

I’d also like to acknowledge the efforts of Ian McNamee who will be standing down as Chairman of ACT cricket after many years of hard work. Ian’s been a tremendous supporter of ours so well done Mac and hopefully this will mean you’ll have more time to put into the Bluebags next season.

As this is my 5th and final year as President of our club, I’d like to thank the committee and club membership for your support over this time. I remain passionate about cricket in our Club and City and hope that I can continue to play a role on the committee next season.

Last but not least, I couldn’t have performed the role of President of our Club without the support of my beautiful wife Julie so a big thank for all of your help and understanding.

Peter Solway President

Page 15 Secretary’s Report

Another season has been and gone and it has been another good one for the club. As I write my 8th report, I reflect on my time with the club and all the success we have had.

Well in my first season (2005-06) the club was really struggling as a lot of players had left and the new ones were yet to settle in. In fact through 5 grades we hardly won any matches and all teams finished pretty much with the wooden spoon. However things started to change over the next few seasons and by the 2009-10 season “we were back at the top of the pile”.

Each season since then we have gone from strength to strength. This is supported when you look at clubs membership statistics. Over 50% of our players have more than 5 years continuous playing experience and over 25% have 10 or more years with the club.

A number of reports contained in this document will state that we won 7 of the 13 titles this season, which I think may be a club record. But despite all this success, it wasn’t enough to secure the ‘big one’, the TE Rolf Cup for Club Championship. However I won’t digress into a system that seems fundamentally unfair.

Some of the highlights from the season were:  3rd grade winning the “Treble” for the second consecutive season.  1st grade exceeding all expectations by winning both limited over competitions - Konica and John Gallop Cups  2nd grade winning their T/20 competition  5th grade finishing Minor Premiers (3rd consecutive season) and then going on to win the 5th grade competition.

4th grade, courtesy of some new players and more importantly some outstanding performances, made the final of all 3 competitions but like 2nd grade the season before, were the runners up in each comp.

There were quite a few outstanding performances this season, but I suppose Troy Drayton’s 41 wickets (at 4.12) would just about top the list. Henry Hunt also had a stellar season, scoring 781 runs at 52, with 4 centuries. Alex Page bowled really well and took 37 wickets at just under 23. Dean Solway finally got the monkey off his back with his first century (132) for the club. Let’s hope that this is the just the first of many.

Other firsts were Aaron Thorn with his first century (144 no) with Jack Allen, Adam Couch, Guy Gillespie, Matt Grocott, Jacob Knowles, Beau Watts and Kaeden Watts all bagging their first “5 fa”.

I would like to acknowledge and congratulate all our Cricket ACT Award winners (see Representative Honours and Special Awards section for complete list).

I would especially like to acknowledge the club’s latest Australian Representative, Jimmy Martin who was a member of the Australian Over 60’s team that played 4 international matches (1 against Wales and 3 against England) on the 2015 tour of the UK.

Page 16 I would also like to congratulate the following players for achieving personal milestones this season.

I would like to acknowledge the ongoing support that is provided to the club Queanbeyan Mayor, Tim Overall and from the staff of Queanbeyan City Council. It is great to know that they are always ready to provide assistance whenever it was required.

One of the big news items of the season was QCC agreeing to the club’s request to name Freebody 2 – The Neil Bulger Oval.

The official naming ceremony was held on Friday, 4 December 2015. Around 200 people attended the function, with many making the journey up for Neil’s home town of Tumut.

The day started with a 20 over match between a Peter Solway XI and a Neil Bulger XI.

Page 17 The Peter Solway XI consisted of current and former players – Mark Steele, Nathan Reid, Frank Hansby, Chris Henry, Steve Frost, Graeme Alexander, Steve Cross, Rohan Ditton, Michael Frost and Sam Frost

The Neil Bulger XI consisted of a number of Neil’s family members including Vince and Ryan, as well as current and former team mates, Simon Mann, Jimmy Martin and Greg Irvine

Apart from all the players who participated, I would like to thank Graeme Clifton for volunteering his time to officiate.

At the conclusion of the 20-over match, QDCC president Peter Solway welcomed everyone and then a number of speeches were made including Neil's former captain Gary Samuels, Tumut's mayor and Neil's sister Sue and QCC Mayor, Cr Tim Overall who officially pronounced Freebody Oval number two as Neil Bulger Oval.

Page 18 Off Field

I would to start by thanking our "Ladies Auxiliary", particularly Julie Solway and Ratsny Gillespie for the work they do around the club. I know that the 1st grade lads love the lunches they put together for every home game. I would also like to thank Cath Elliott and Faye Solway for looking after the pavilion cleaning. The ladies did a great job.

I would also like to acknowledge and to thank the work that Gemma Vasco (Queanbeyan Age) did during the season. This effort ensures that the club is at the forefront of sports news each week.

Also helping keep the club in the public domain, I would also like to thank Pete ‘Nook’ Newham for allowing me to present the Bluebags Review as part of his weekly sports show on Queanbeyan 96.7 FM every Friday evening.

The Annual Dinner and Awards Presentation Night was again a great night and congratulations go to all the award recipients. I would like to again thank Matt Grocott, Alex Page, Michael Medved and Mark Solway for the fantastic job they did as Master of Ceremonies on the night. I would like to thank Cr Tim Overall, Queanbeyan Mayor and Dr Peter Hendy, Member for Eden-Monaro for taking time out of their busy schedule to attend. Thanks also to Winston and Sue McDonald for travelling down as well.

I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the organising committee of Rohan Ditton and Michael Frost. Thanks to all involved.

The club’s Annual Golf Day was another success, with good numbers in attendance. However we were a bit light on helpers on the day, which we need to address for next year's event.

The Future

Thanks to efforts of people like Ian McNamee, the club's future looks good resulting in the Queanbeyan City Council offering the club a 20 year license on the pavilion, which we have duly accepted and have signed off on.

I also see a prosperous future for the club on the field with a number of youngsters in the lower grades as well as a good number of juniors ready to take that next step on their path to first grade.

Page 35 Coaches Report

This season I was asked by Peter Solway at the last minute to step into the coach’s role due to Vinesh’s unavailability due to personal reasons. It was a role that I had no hesitation in accepting and reacquaint myself with the club that I had great pleasure in representing before my move to the UK some twelve years previous.

One thing I quickly recognised was the high volume of young, talented players the club has, and also the great number of senior players mixed throughout the lower grades.

The first third of the season was fantastic for the club as we won a large number of the 50 over/T20 grand finals, a place where the young players of the club could express themselves with confidence and the results showed. It was clear in the training sessions that the aggressive stroke play throughout the whole club was high class and the ability of the bowlers to perform their skills under the pressure of the shorter format was exceptional.

All the teams were well led, played with passion and were a great representation of our club. The challenge was whether all the grades could replicate their one day form in the longer format.

As the season unfolded, the young First and Second grade batsmen struggled for consistency and found themselves scrambling to make competitive scores. We spent the last third of the season really working hard with the top orders on their patience outside the off stump, shot selection and their ability to play straight for long periods. That work gave both grades a chance to make the semis which would mean all five grades qualifying for the semi-finals.

Despite First grade winning dominantly it wasn’t enough to gain a semi spot but seconds came through and eventually went on to make the grand final. I firmly believe if this group continues to work hard on those skills mentioned above, they will be very tough opposition in all formats next year.

Third, Fourth and Fifth grades went all the way to the Grand Final with only fourth grade missing out on the major trophy. All three grades had a fantastic blend of youth and experience and in some crucial moments it was the senior players stepping up and showing the younger members what was needed to be successful. They showed great self-belief in the own skills to get the job done, which was a great lesson to all the young players. I had the fortune to play a handful of fourth grade games after Christmas and the passion to play for the club, produce results, mixed with providing young players with opportunities to perform was very evident in every game.

Congratulations to all the Captains, Selectors and players on what was another successful year for QDCC. So many players getting opportunities to win trophies and create memories that will last a lifetime. The future is bright with so many quality young players willing to learn, and plenty of senior players still willing to go into battle for the club and pass on their knowledge.

It was an absolute privilege to be given the opportunity to with work with everyone this season and I am positive next season will be even more successful.

After a good pre-season build up, we started the season with 3 good wins in the Konica Cup and went into the final as the top ranked team. In the one day matches, some inconsistent performances saw us finished 4th on the table and knew we had to really play our best if we were going to bring the John Gallop Cup back to Freebody.

First up was the Konica Cup final against Creek. If truth be told, we did not play well and luck brought a storm that washed the match out. Then in the replay it was a different story. We won the toss and got off to a good start and after 10 overs we were 4/101 and then 5/164 after 18 overs, but a collapse saw us lose 5 wickets in just 8 balls and we were bowled out for 172 with 4 balls to spare. A competitive but not a secure score. Creek started their innings quite sedately and in the second over Fahzey was given the ball and had immediate results picking up a wicket in his first over. After 10 overs we had applied the screws and had them 3/61. We kept the pressure up and after 19 overs, victory was almost assured as we had them 6/136 and victory was just about ours. Then Pagey was given the ball and in an over he would probably like to forget, ex Bluebag Tubby Taylor hit 5 sixes of the first 5 balls. Fortunately for us, he could only dispatch the last ball for 4 and we won the match by 2 runs.

In the Gallop cup semi-final against Eastlake we lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a pretty ordinary Kingston track. We lost a couple of early wickets, but we consolidated and at the halfway mark were 3/93. But then struggled to put partnerships together and were bowled out for 202 in just over 48 overs. Deano topped scored with 66. The wicket was still a bit up and down when Eastlake came into bat and after 25 overs the match was evenly poised with them being 4/103.

Page 37 The bowlers then kept the pressure on and wickets continued to fall. With 5 overs to be bowled we had them at 9/182. Their tail tried its best and with a bit of luck they edged ever closer to our score. But with just 3 runs for victory and 3 balls to be bowled, Guy got one through and we won by 2 runs.

In the final, we again came up against Creek. This time we won the toss and batted. Henry was back and he was at his best belting all Creek’s bowlers around the ground. He compiled 118 off 136 balls as we put together a great score of 8/274.

In Creek’s innings Guy struck in his first over, picking up 2 wickets. From there on they were just trying to keep themselves in the match. Guy bowled superbly picking up the first 3 wickets and then had his forth before he was rested. After 11 overs the cup was just about ours with Creek teetering at 5/51. However Medhurst was keeping them in the match, scoring at a run a ball. Then after a 50 run partnership, we got our reward by getting rid of Medhurst. There were a few minor partnerships from there on, but we eventually bowled them out for 202 (43 overs) with Guy taking the last wicket with his last ball of his 10 overs and gave him his first 5 wicket haul for the club.

In the two-day competition, we got off to a good start by winning our first two matches, but then due to a number of reasons, could not maintain any momentum. In the second last round took on Northies at Harrison in a match we had to win to keep ourselves in the running for a semi berth. It was a disastrous match not helped by a track that was far from 1st grade standard and we were well and truly beaten. Now needing results to go our way in the last match against Ginninderra we secured an outright win but even though Northies lost their match against Eastlake, they did just enough to pip us on Quotient for 4th place.

Page 38 The star of the season was no doubtedly Henry Hunt. Henry who had a great season, scoring 781 runs at 52 (despite missing a number of matches due to injury and Comets/rep duties). In this effort he also scored 4 centuries with a top score of 166. Henry will be off to Northern Districts in Sydney next season and the club and his teammates wish him all the best.

Other highlights include Deano scoring his maiden ton for the club (at last Mark cannot hold that over him). Dean also put together 712 runs at 47. With the ball, Vele picked up 30 wickets at 25, with Guy taking the bowling honours with 26 at 19. What the team really missed was Higgsie in the longer format. Besides his batting and bowling, his experience and leadership skills were sorely missed.

Kel Evans was again very tidy behind the stumps and also handle the bat pretty well. This young fellow has great future in front of him.

On behalf of Vele, I would like to thank all those behind the scenes from Greg Dawes and the great work he does in providing just about the best suburban grounds in region, but also the selectors, Chook as club coach and of course the tireless work of Peter Solway and the committee.

2015/16 season was another great year for the club bringing home 7 out of 13 trophies. Couldn't have asked for better than that at the start of the season.

This was my first year as captain of the second grade side and whilst it had its challenges through the season I thoroughly enjoyed it and a role if given the chance would put my hand up to lead the team next season.

The season started great with a knock-out T20 competition and if you lost the first game “bye bye”, but with a great batting performance from Josh Gregory in particular getting 50+ to help give us a victory in the first game, then the semi-final was played the same afternoon out at Harrison and the winner was to play the grand final at Manuka, and we bowled first and one of our young promising fast bowlers, Tyler Van Luin lead the charge taking 3/12 ( give or take a few runs) and we restricted Weston Creek to 59 off 20 overs and we knocked them over in 5 overs and another half century to Josh Gregory locked in a grand final.

In the grand final we batted first losing the toss to Tuggeranong and we had a slow start losing three quick wickets to have us at 3/30 after 8 overs and trying to stay positive I had the confidence in the batters to come. At the crease were two young future first grade batsman in Jeremy Macdonald and Jordan Hedington and together put on an outstanding 110+ run partnership and getting us to 140, and in the field everyone did a great job and all the bowlers bowled to our plan and eventually bowling them out for 90 odd and victory.

Then after the celebrations were finished we had the one day format to contend with and too cut a long story short we fell into a slump of very narrow loses and a few wins which left us 5th just missing out on finals.

Page 40 The two day format was also just as frustrating as the one dayers as our batting was letting us and the fielding and bowling was keeping us in games and with one out right loss we came into the last round needing just to win on first innings and we will be in the finals and again our batting let us down but on the second day around 5 o'clock we got the last wicket and we made the semi-final.

Then as last year went for second grade we played our grand final in the semis, beating north outright. In the grand final as all season went our batting let us down massively getting bowled out for 120 in the first innings and a strong performance in the field and with the bowled them out for 150 and I thought game is back on.

But unfortunately that wasn't to be our batting again wasn't good enough getting bowled out for 89 very disappointing but on the plus we had a lot of young lads which will only give them experience and a driving force for them to work hard at training and turn those negatives into positives.

Thanks to Greg Dawes for the remarkable outfields and pitches he produced this season, in my opinion, the best in the comp and I'm proud and honoured to be a part of this club.

QDCC 2016/17 season hopefully will provide the same success and I cannot wait to be a part of it.

The 3rd Grade team had another fantastic season this year winning all 3 trophies on offer for the 2nd consecutive year. Our team was consistently challenged this year after a number of young players were promoted to 2nd grade from the previous season. Fortunately our boys were able to lift at the right times resulting in grand final victories over ANU in all 3 formats.

Congratulations to everyone that played 3rd grade this season. Our success was built on solid contributions right across the board and this was extremely pleasing at the end of the day. The team spirit in the squad was excellent and everyone enjoyed each other’s company and successes over the season. Probably the most pleasing aspect of the season from the club’s point of view is that we are continuing to unearth some real talent. An example of this is three young 14-15 year old boys who played the majority of the season in 3rd grade. Lachlan Squires, Angus Jones and young South Coast player Jack ‘the Cobargo Kid” Allan have plenty of talent and will certainly play at a higher level in the years to come.

With the bat this season we had some excellent contributions from Cameron Edgar, Adrian Brunker, David Horsfall, Michael Elliott, Lachlan Squires and Matty Harding. The Watts twins, Kaden and Beau lead the attack strongly and were well supported by Khye Ditton, Alex Mitton and Adrian Brunker. The spinning department was filled admirably by Jack Allan and Cameron Edgar. Young Jack bowls with maturity beyond his 14 years and it was a delight to see his progress during the year. To highlight his steady progression during the year, in his last 4 games of the season Jack bowled 69 overs of leg spin and took 11 for 146 (that’s a run rate of just over 2 and an average of 11). I can count the number of bad balls bowled in these overs on one hand. I think that’s pretty amazing for a young leggie.

Finally, our keeper Dave Horsfall was at his competitive best for the entire season. Horse took the catches that mattered and never stopped encouraging our team. A job well done! Well done also to Adrian Brunker who was awarded the Cricket ACT 3rd grade player of the year. Brunks can be a destructive player on his day with both bat and ball and it was a delight to have him playing 3rd grade this year.

Thanks to Frosty, Horse, Matty and Brunks as the older brigade for their help this season. We all have a laugh at each other’s expense and continue to enjoy the comradery that comes with playing a team sport.

A big thank you also to curator Greg Dawes for the excellent wickets we get to play on each week and to Chairman of Selectors, Adrian Brunker, for ensuring we had a full team on the park each weekend.

Page 44 Fourth Grade Report Runner’s Up – Twenty 20, One-day, and Two-day

Fourth Grade had a successful season in participating in 3 Grand Finals, unfortunately we were unable to snare one.

There are some really good signs though, for the fact we were able to make 3 GF’s but also we were able to continue to be able to develop youngsters in the group such as Sid, Abhinash, Finley, Will and Tommy. These guys are keeping our Club in good stead for the future.

The T/20 competition was revised into a knock out this season and we played really well to win our first two matches. We then faced off against West’s in the final at Neil Bulger and after winning the toss, they made the most of their chances while batting and put together a decent, but very gettable score of 138. However we never recovered from the loss of two early wickets and we then bowled out for 55 in 12 overs.

In the one-day competition, we scrapped into 3rd place with a 3-2-2 record. In the semi against ANU, we had some revenge for last season’s loss in the two day comp, comprehensively defeating them, thanks to a great 86 no by Gilly and then Jenno taking 5/20.

In the final against Northies on a pretty ordinary Harrison wicket, we were asked to bowl first and a great effort by all our bowlers saw Northies being restricted to 8/136. However the wicket just go slower and lower and we just could not put partnerships together and were bowled out for 93.

In the two-day competition, we really started to shine. We won 6 matches (3 outright) to just fall short of the minor premiership. Our only loss came against North’s, who are proving to be our bogie team. In the semi, we came up against West’s at home. Thanks to good batting by Chook 63 and Jay 56, we were able to put together 159 in our first innings. In West’s first innings our bowlers stepped up to the mark and we bowled them out for 90 with the wicket being shared around. With a deteriorating wicket, West’s wanted to play on. Thanks again to Chook who scored 52 no batting down the order, we were able to play them out of the match.

In the final, again against Northies at Harrison, they again won the toss and batted. By the end of day 1, they had all but played us out of the match. Eventually we were able to bowl them out for 274 from 133 overs. Will was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 22-10-4-36. In reply we were bowled out for 155 from 69 overs with Jay (46) and Gilly (35) doing their best to keep us in the match.

Hopefully we will see everyone next year back at the club to hopefully win one of those GF’s that we narrowly missed out on this season.

We were again the dominant side for the whole 5th grade season and we finished the home and away rounds as the minor premiers for the 3rd year in a row. Playing in our 5th grand final out of the last 6 and winning our 3rd.

We started the season with a controversial loss to Eastlake but then didn’t lose a game for ten weeks with a few rain affected draws in between. We then started the second half of the season well and didn’t lose a game until mid-February in a high scoring game against Wests. We then remained undefeated all the way through to the Grand Final.

The team was strong in all facets of the game throughout the season, performing consistently week in week out. Learning from our previous season where we tended to fade in tight contests. We won a lot of games by fighting hard with the bat and ball, whereas last season we may have dropped these games.

It was an exciting year for our side. Personally it was satisfying, being my second season as captain and captaining a grand final winning side. I was proud of the way we all performed as a team, nobody relied on another person to get the runs or take the wickets. Everyone chipped in each week which made my job easier and at the same time harder when it came to selections at the business end of the season.

This season we had a few new faces due to losing a few guys. Obtaining players like Adam Couch, who provided us with an outstanding first change bowling option and Dwayne Patterson, who saved countless runs in the field and had many a cameo late in the innings. These guys provided us with an edge over a lot of other teams in the competition.

Page 47 Once again the younger guys like Tommy Christou, Murjal Movneet, Jack Manners, Olly Hall and Mitch Fern all chipped in with valuable contributions over the season, be it in the field, taking wickets or scoring runs.

The seasoned regulars as always were fantastic and irreplaceable for me. The experience of Jimmy, Ferny, Troy Drayton, Howie and Yippa were the backbone of our premiership. Jimmy, Ferny and Troy were relentless with the ball. Howie was at his best behind the stumps and Yippa was the rock in an at times shaky top order.

A special mention for Troy Drayton, his bowling was fantastic all season. Rarely did a team get through a Drayton spell without losing multiple wickets and if they managed to, they hardly scored a run. He always batted when and wherever I asked him to without complaint. His 41 wickets at an average of 4 was some of the best bowling I had seen.

I would like to thank Ronny McGlashan , even though he missed basically the whole season with a knee op, he continued to come and support us and make us lunch. I would also like to thank Rehanen Patterson and Jamie-Lee (the partners of Dwayne and Adam) for scoring and/or helping with the lunches and the set up and pack up at each game.

I would also like to thank Brunks for his support at the selection table. It’s a tough job trying to put 5 grades on the field every week and accommodate requests from myself and the other captains.

Notable milestones achieved during this season –  Graeme Alexander 400 games and 5000 runs  John Fern 3000 runs and 350 wickets  Troy Drayton 200 wickets  Chris Howe 1000 runs  Aaron Thorn 144* first century

Over all it was an enjoyable and successful season.

After a couple of years of work behind the scenes, 2015/16 saw the return of over age cricket in the ACT via a new Masters Cricket Competition for Over 50’s.

This season consisted of only a couple of matches, just to get things rolling. The matches were played in January and February. The teams that participated were Canberra Masters, Goulburn Trinity Tigers, WCM Creeky Knees and of course the Queanbeyan Greybaggers.

All matches were very competitive but they were played in good spirit. Unfortunately the Greybaggers didn’t register a win, but we were very competitive.

It was good to see some former Bluebaggers back in their whites.

Thanks to all players who participated and look forward to a full season next comp.
