8 Open Access in Web of Science Open Access in Web of Science

In 2014 we invented OA discovery In 2018 we extended our offering

. Web of Science Core Collection already provided some limited . The Web of Science Platform is now the first and only information about the OA status of articles (filter and links for comprehensive, publisher-neutral discovery resource for Journal Gold OA) trusted peer-reviewed OA content

. However, the picture was incomplete: for example, the status . WoS offers the first truly complete picture of trusted OA now for other OA types (Hybrid Gold OA & Green OA) was missing including legal peer-reviewed Green and previously hidden Hybrid Gold and Bronze . Web of Science also provided the initial grant for Impactstory and partnered to be able to integrate better and more . More than discovery, we have begun to ease delivery - sophisticated OA discovery and analytics. researchers now confidently have direct access to more free full text knowing they are retrieving the final, legal peer reviewed OA version.

WEB OF SCIENCE IS UNIQUE

HELPING THE RESEARCH COMMUNITY TO EVALUATE AND ACCESS HIGH-QUALITY OA CONTENT 10 More detailed Open Access analysis

To support any types of analysis, Web of Science has introduced the different OA versions of articles, as per Unpaywall application old and Bronze” categorization down into three subcategories 1. DOAJ Gold 2. Other Gold [e.g. Hybrid] 3. Bronze 4. Green (Accepted & Published)

All identified OA versions for an article are stored rather than just one. We will still preference the link to the “best” version: at the publisher website when available.
