The Dolomites, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage list, and the summits of the mountains surround your way through the Nature Parks „Fanes-Sennes-Prags“, „Ampezzaner Dolomiten“ and „Sextner Dolomiten“. Characteristics of the route The path leads along military and forest tracks as on wide mountain paths. The tour is suitable for anyone in good basic physical condition. Highlights and places of interest along the route Dolomites – UNESCO World Heritage Nature Park “Fanes-Sennes-Prags“ “ Pragser Wildsee” – the pearl of the Dolomites’ lakes Nature Park “Ampezzaner Dolomiten” 1 Nature Park „Sextner Dolomiten“ with the sundial of Sexten Cortina d’Ampezzo, the pearl of the Dolomites High plateau Plätzwiese A day by day account of the route Day 1: Arrival in Hochpustertal (Niederdorf/Toblach) Individual arrival at the start hotel in Hochpustertal. After a break and refreshment you can enjoy the downhill ride to Oberolang and go back to Niederdorf/Toblach on the cycling path. Day 3: Niederdorf – Eggerberg - Niederdorf; approx. 1.100 m in altitude - approx. 45 km (or approx. 1.850 m in altitude - 65 km) The first part of today’s stage leads along the asphalted road to the lookout on Eggerberg (1.480 m). Over the forest tracks you reach – on the back of the mountain - „Ratsberg” (1.620 m) and the homonymous hotel. From here you go downhill to the “Silvesteralm“ (1.800 m – alpine pasture). Over the “Innichberg“ you get back to Toblach/Niederdorf. Ambitioned mountain-bikers can cycle from the „Silvesteralm” over an old military road up to Markinkele (2.545 m). As is the case for all cross-border projects, the activities have been agreed upon and developed in partnership with the Austrian associations “Tourismusverband Lienzer Dolomiten” (Lienz- Osttirol region), “Tourismusverband Hochpustertal” (Sillian) and “Verein zur Förderung des Stadtmarktes Lienz”, and with the Bolzano partner “Centro Culturale Grand Hotel Dobbiaco”. The project is an excellent opportunity to promote typical mountain produce, in particular cheeses, in order to create a close link with the promotion of the local area, culture and tourism. There is a clear connection between, one the one hand, the tourist, hotel and catering trades and on the other, the safeguarding and promotion of typical quality produce which, in particular in mountain areas, is one of the main channels of communication with the visitor, insofar as it is representative of the identity of the people who live and work in the mountains.
