Welcome from the Secretary-General

Welcome to Old Dominion University’s forty-third annual Model United Nations Conference. It is a true honor to serve as your Secretary-General for this year’s gathering of the brightest emerging minds of the mid-Atlantic region. The ODU Model UN Society and I have been working diligently to ensure the conference continues to provide a challenging and engaging experience for all who attend.

ODUMUNC 43 will be held on President’s Day Weekend, Thursday 13 February to Sunday 16 February 2019, and hosted at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel.

In an atmosphere of rising international tensions and growing uncertainty, the importance of understanding the interconnectedness of our global community proves vital. Many of this year’s ODUMUNC committees emphasize historical themes that still resonate in today’s world. Understanding the issues faced by both our diplomatic predecessors and modern-day policy makers is imperative equipping young minds with the tools needed to move forward into a better world and brighter future. My hope is that this year’s ODUMUNC will emphasize the importance of international cooperation and will allow delegates to use their voices to , collaborate and initiate resolutions designed to bring world-wide peace and stability.

We hope you join us February 2020 for our signature conference!

Best Regards,

Amanda Crocker, Secretary-General ODU Model United Nations Conference 43
