2 THE RECTORY October 2019

I have just got back from the Sponsored Walk to raise money for our Benefice Project for BIBIC (British Society for Brain Injured Children). Five of us set off from Rimpton to visit all five of the churches in the Benefice. We said one of the psalms in each church and prayed for that village, its people and needs. The weather could not have been better, warm, sunny and dry. Marston Magna Church was reached first with energy added from chocolate and cereal bars. Here two people dropped out. was next, with coffee tea and crisps (we could of course have had cider too). Another person was collected there. That left Richard Gardner and me to continue to Ashington (birthday cake!) and then ended up at . Refreshment was offered but an earlier lunch than expected called. It was a beautiful walk with the countryside in all its glory. We met wildlife too in the form of cows, sheep and dogs, even some humans.

Rimpton Church had already started decorating for the first of our Harvest services in September. All the other churches have their services and lunches or suppers this month. Do come and enjoy the harvest hymns and hospitality. It was a day, despite rather a lot of sad events that week, of being thankful for the beauty and bounty of our world. Of course, it is still not too late to sponsor Richard or myself.

In September we had our Patronal Festival at Marston Magna with Bishop Ruth Worsley. The Benefice Choir sang beautifully; we had an excellent sermon and wonderful refreshments. Outside, the Church yard had been mowed. When I walked up the path on the Saturday before the Service, the edges were being cut and I met some more members of the Working Party. The next Saturday, another working party set about an Autumn Clean of the inside of the Church. We are so fortunate to have people who work so hard both inside and outside our lovely Church. Thank you to all, for all you do.

Today I have just been to Rimpton Church to say Morning Prayer. This Church yard was looking particularly good too with the cyclamen all around.
