2 THE RECTORY June 2020 Dear All

Life has changed quite a lot since the last Newsletter. There are less restrictions. The number of people dying of Corvid 19 and infections have gone down. We look forward to the news when there are no more deaths or infections. I or a designated person can now go into churches for prayer providing they lock themselves in.

I will continue to pray Morning and Evening Prayer and Holy Communion on Sundays at home in the Rectory or garden. I have been into Marston Church and rung the bell on Ascension Day and sadly, to fill in records after the graveside funeral of Cynthia Eydmann. Do read the tribute to her in the Newsletter. This brought me into contact with all the books etc we had in the Church to take before total lock down. It reminded me of speaking to someone from my first parish who said they were leaving books in porches for people to take. Others in Marston had already been thinking about this.

From Sunday 24th May the books etc from the Church will be possible to take from a table under a gazebo outside the Church between 11 and 4pm on Sundays and Wednesdays, weather permitting. Please wear gloves when handling the books. A different set of books etc will be out each day which also allows the 72 hours decontamination time. Do come and hopefully find something of interest remembering to keep to the usual rules of social distancing.

May meant I could not go to see a former colleague in France and June means I cannot go to Eastbourne tennis, but we have rolled over the booking onto next year. I expect most of you are experiencing similar disappointments. But we are so fortunate to live where we do and continue to clap for the NHS and all care workers on Thursdays, especially remembering the staff of Fir Villa.

Now my bike is ridable, with tyres that stay up, I have taken to cycling again. Not done since I came to live here, not liking the main road outside. With less traffic and in the interest of the environment (excellent Life Scientific on Radio 4 the 19th May on air pollution) I am trying to go on a bike ride each day. The bike is red so you may catch a glimpse of me under a dark blue helmet!

Trinity Sunday comes this month on the 7th June, when remember God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Services containing talks and prayers continue to be e-mailed. If you would like to receive these please contact me. Also contact me should you wish someone to be included in the prayers.

Lots of other services from and Wells are being streamed. Do contact their websites.

I pray that next month the virus will have lessened and that we will be freer to live our lives in ways that will slowly bring us back to something beginning to look more like normal.

Revd. Barbara 01935 850745 [email protected].
