Temporary Closure of Sherborne Road and Rimpton Hill

TAKE NOTICE that in pursuance of Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the County Council of Somerset have made an Order PROHIBITING ALL TRAFFIC from proceeding along Sherborne Road and Rimpton Hill from Sherborne Road; the junction with Pitfield Corner north westwards for 550m to Rimpton Hill; the junction with Pitfield Corner south eastwards for 20m, a total distance of 570 metres.

This order will enable Somerset Highways to carry out resurfacing in this road.

The Order became effective on 02 February 2015 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The works are expected to commence on 13 July 2015 and last for 4 weeks. While the closure is in operation an alternative route will be signed as detailed below.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE

From the southern end of the closure proceed in a south easterly direction along the B3148 to the junction with the A30. Turn right and proceed in south westerly and north westerly directions along the A30 to the junction with the A37. Turn right and proceed in a north westerly direction along the A37 to the junction with the A359. Turn right and proceed in a north easterly direction along the A359 to the junction with the B3148. Turn right and proceed in a south easterly direction along the B3148 to the northern end of the closure, and vice versa.
