    Strategy for export of Kosovo’s cultural assets Olta Andoni* I. Introduction Kosovo, the NEWBORN state, is enjoying its independence. The long dreamed aspirations are more than real for Kosovo right now. Looking forward to the future and being recognized by more countries is another “war” for Kosovo. Seeking new avenues in this direction is the key to the newest state in the world. However, the next “war” of Kosovo has to be a muted and psychological one. Whether it will be successful or not depends on a series of factors. Kosovo, as a new independent state, is more focused on working toward the accession by new states, neglecting the relevance of the arts and culture in the process. But no development is expected without the interplay of the culture. If culture is defined as the entire system of beliefs, practices and customs that exist in a society, it is the foundation that supports every development.1 Economic development without cultural roots will never be sustainable.2 Relying on the power of art and culture is crucial for Kosovo’s future. Immer wieder taucht sie auf: vor der Prüfung, beim Anblick von Spinnen und Schlangen, vor dem Einstieg in ein Flugzeug, bei drohender Arbeitslosigkeit, in der Einsamkeit. Angst hat viele Facetten und jeder hat sie mehrfach erlebt. Die Handflächen werden feucht, man schwitzt, die Knie zittern, Unwohlsein macht sich breit – typische Symptome von Angst, denen man sich im Alltag immer wieder stellen muss. Auch im Sport wird man mit Ängsten konfrontiert. Die Angst der Schüler im Sportunterricht vor dem Sprung über den Kasten oder vom 3 m-Brett, die Angst vor Verletzungen und Schmerzen, die Angst der Profisportler um ihre Existenz. Es gibt auch Sportler, die bewusst lebensbedrohliche Situationen am Fels und in der Wüste suchen. Doch welche Ängste haben Sportler? Wie gehen sie mit ihrer Angst um? Welche Strategien wenden sie an, um ihre Angst zu überwinden und in welchen Situati- onen kann Angst positiv eingesetzt werden? Diesen Fragen gehen Studierende des Bachelor-Studi- engangs Sportpublizistik in der 3. Ausgabe der SportSirene nach. Boxer, Surfer und Extrembergstei- ger kommen zu Wort, Polizisten berichten von Einsätzen bei Fußballspielen, Sportpsychologen und Kinesiologen werden bei der Arbeit beobachtet, Selbstverteidigung als Mittel zur Angstbewältigung ausprobiert, die Angst des Outings im Sport unter die Lupe genommen und Ängste im Sportstudium beschrieben.

    Hoppetosse 2005 >> Unterwegs mit behinderten und schwerkranken Kindern w4h.de Die „Hoppetosse“ ist ein Abenteuer – für jeden. Als die zwölfjährige Vanessa, die mehrfach behindert und im Rollstuhl festge- zurrt ist, das acht Meter lange Schlauchboot am Rheinufer sieht, sagt sie: „Ich darf doch eh nicht mitfahren.“ Zehn Minuten später sitzt sie gut verpackt auf dem Schoß ihrer Betreuerin im Heck der „Hoppetosse“ und strahlt vor Freude. Behinderten und schwerkranken Kindern Abwechslung und Spaß zu bieten – das ist das Ziel von wings for handicapped. Im Jahr 2005 waren gut 1.200 Gäste an Bord der „Hoppetosse“, darunter Kinder aus dem kinderneurologischen Zentrum des Krankenhauses Gerresheim, aus der Kölner Dialyse-Klinik, Jugendliche und Erwachsene aus den Ostfriesischen Beschützenden Werkstätten in Emden und vom Hessischen Blinden- und Sehbehinderten-Verbund. Wir waren auf Rhein und Main, auf der Donau, der Saale und dem Rhein-Herne- Kanal, auf der Nordsee, an der belgischen und holländischen Küste, auf dem Partwitzer See und auf dem Tegeler See unterwegs. Egal wie stark oder schwach der Einzelne ist, bei dieser Aktion kommen alle gleich schnell voran. Die Kinder können erfahren, dass Grenzen überwunden werden können, dadurch ihr Selbstwertgefühl stärken – und natürlich viel Spaß dabei haben. Wings for handicapped e.V. wurde im April 2000 von Jörg Leonhardt gegründet, der seit seinem 18. Lebensjahr querschnitts- gelähmt ist. Seine Aktivitäten machen deutlich, dass man auch mit einer Behinderung seine Träume verwirklichen kann. Er fährt Motorboot und Motorrad, taucht, springt Fallschirm, geht mit einem Ultraleichtflugzeug oder einem Drachen in die Lüfte und nahm als Vize-Europameister im Rollstuhlbasketball an den Paralympics in Sydney teil.

Dr Alpion’s new book Mother Teresa, the Media and Sainthood will be published by Routledge, London, in 2006. Like any nation in the Balkans, indeed throughout the world, the Albanians are very proud of their historical figures. Being the direct descendants of the Illyrians, they take pride in several famous ancient kings like Bardhyllus and Glaucius and Queen Teuta. Following their defeat by the Romans in 165 BC, however, the Albanians began to take pride mainly in ‘their’ international high-flyers living abroad. Today as well as in the past, the Albanians are often keen to mention that many Roman and Byzantine Emperors such as Diocletian, Julian, Claudius, Constantine the Great, Justinian I, and Anastasius were apparently of Illyrian origin. While the Albanians never fail to blame the five-century-long Turkish occupation of their country, they always mention with pride that they allegedly gave the Ottoman Empire twenty-six grand viziers (prime ministers) as well as 1 some of its greatest architects like Master Sinan. The Albanians are also very proud of the following internationally famous expatriates: Mehmet Isa, a seventeenth century architect, who acted as the chief builder of the Taj Mahal;
