BBC News is the number one News app in the UK Android and iOS app stores. This is an opportunity to work with a team that is delivering a significant step change for the next generation of the app.

We're based at Oxford Circus in the centre of London. [Broadcasting House] (http://www.bbc.co.uk/broadcastinghouse/ ) is a brand new building which provides a great working environment and houses the largest News Room in Europe. You will be working right next to journalists giving you direct feedback from users.

About the Role: The Junior Dev in Test will be part of a supportive agile team, working on the BBC News apps. During this 12 months FTC you will gain knowledge of what it takes to produce the leading UK mobile News app, and be responsible for ensuring the quality of our releases.

The role will involve a combination of manual and automation testing, so you will need a strong technical understanding, and be involved in technical testing and analysis of the BBC News app on multiple platforms. This is an entry-level role within the apps team, and we would support you with everything from in getting to grips with Agile software development practices, to what makes a good mobile test.  Responsibility from day one, with hands on experience of the app development process, Agile, SCRUM  Working knowledge of Development tracking tools such as JIRA, Jenkins, AWS, Charles, Android Studio and XCode  Experience that could lead to roles in Testing, Development or Business Analysis.  Support with 10% time to spend on personal development such as Native apps features, testing automation or Analysis and requirements  BBC Academy training to support your career aspirations

About You: You will have a Degree in a Computer related science (or similar) have excellent communication skills, be pro-active, want to input into and contribute to creating quality applications, and be passionate about delivering the very best quality of work. Be able to work independently and within a team. You will be able to demonstrate your interest and desire to progress in mobile applications development, testing or analysis.

Your Tasks:

 Reviewing and inputting into designs of key features.  Creating test documentation (Test Scripts; Test Plans; etc.)  Setting up a device “hive’ to simultaneously test on multiple devices  Testing of Mobile Apps both via simulators and native.  Working with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and Software Developers to ensure suitable testing of the app.  Communicating with our customer-base and stakeholders as part as our on-going commitment to customer service, and to find out more about detailed issues.

Expected

A passion for native mobile applications

Technical Degree or related experience

Desirable

An awareness of Continuous integration tools

Ues of GitHub, or other code versioning repositories

Use of proxies tools such as Charles to test applications.

Understanding or experience of Agile

Any experience of developing applications in Java, Objective C, or Ruby
