SIlvIA bARAlES Como presidenta del Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales dar cuenta de la reciente producción cinematográfica argentina constituye un gran reconocimiento a la vez que un nuevo desafío. Reconocimiento que implica destacar el trabajo realizado, evidenciado en el gran número de ficciones, documentales y animaciones que se llevaron a cabo durante el último período, colmando las pantallas del país de nuevas miradas, contenidos y lenguajes. A su vez, el desafío consiste en continuar y profundizar estos logros, reforzando las herramientas a escala nacional y fortaleciendo la producción cinematográfica en las seis regiones del país. Todas nuestras apuestas se sustentan en las políticas estatales que hoy en día nos permiten construir y pelear por una comunicación democrática y plural. Políticas que hablan del Lucrecia Cardoso crecimiento sostenido a lo largo de estos años, que han permitido alcanzar y mantener el récord Presidenta de público para las producciones argentinas. Trabajamos día a día por una industria audiovisual nacional que incluya y reconozca todas las voces, todos los trabajadores, todas las historias y aplausos. ______ As the chairman of the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts, having to account for the recent Argentine film production is a great acknowledgment, but at the same time, a new challenge. This acknowledgment involves emphasizing on the work done, shown by the large number of films, documentaries and animations carried out lately, filling the screens of the whole country with new views, contents and languages. The challenge, in turn, consists of continuing and deepening these achievements, by reinforcing the tools nationwide and strengthening the national film production in the six regions of the country. Our investments are sustained by state policies that currently enable us to build up and fight for a democratic and plural communication. Policies about the growth sustained throughout the last few years, which have made it possible for us to reach and keep the record of viewers of Argentine productions. These achievements were possible thanks to the great advances of the country: cultural advances are unthinkable unless they correspond with a society that wonders about its identity, that solves its basic issues and struggles for the recognition of its rights. This is the line of thought we support, and we are committed to foster it and continue it. We want to drive the sector to challenges, considering the new platforms and modes of exhibition, supporting its growth not only in national screens but also on a worldwide scale. We work day after day for a national audiovisual industry that includes and recognises all the voices, all the workers, all the stories and applauses. Chapel Hill 2018 Approved by: Oswaldo Estrada Rosa Perelmuter Juan Carlos González-Espitia Samuel Amago Robert McKee Irwin © 2018 Alejandra Márquez ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT Alejandra Márquez: Disidencia de deseo femenino en representaciones literarias y culturales del México contemporáneo (1989-2015) (Under the direction of Oswaldo Estrada) This study focuses on works depicting same-sex desire among women written after the publication of Amora (1989), considered to be the first lesbian novel in Mexico, in order to examine developments since its publication. By analyzing works by authors such as Artemisa Téllez, Cristina Rivera Garza, Valeria Luiselli, Mónica Lavín, and Criseida Santos Guevara, among others, I unpack how these works challenge the heteronormative, patriarchal society of contemporary Mexico. In the four chapters of this dissertation, I explore topics often overlooked when discussing lesbianism in Mexico’s literary and cultural productions, such as female masculinity, race, class, and social engagement. My theoretical framework draws from a variety of theorists and critics based in Mexico and the U.S., including Jack Halberstam, Walter Mignolo, Gloria Anzaldúa, Marta Lamas, and Francesca Gargallo. This transnational scholarly perspective facilitates a productive discussion that helps to understand the ways in which late 20th and early 21st-century experiences and ideas circulate beyond the boundaries of the nation state.

    Chapter 1 Targets and Victims His dance of death was famous. In 1463, Bernt Notke painted a life-sized, thirty-meter-long “Totentanz” that snaked around the chapel walls of the Marienkirche in Lübeck, the picturesque port town outside Hamburg in northern Germany. Individuals covering the entire medieval social spec- trum were represented, ranging from the Pope, the Emperor and Empress, and a King, followed by (among others) a duke, an abbot, a nobleman, a merchant, a maiden, a peasant, and even an infant. All danced reluctantly with grinning images of the reaper in his inexorable procession. Today only photos remain. Allied bombers destroyed the church during World War II. This dissertation examines the depiction of gambling and other games of chance, as well as financially-speculative endeavors, in eight texts from the mid-nineteenth century throughout Hispanic America, including José Joaquín Fernández de Lizardi’s El Periquillo Sarniento (1816), Eduardo Gutiérrez’s Juan Moreira (1879), Rosario Orrego’s Alberto el jugador (1860), Teresa González de Fanning’s Regina (1886), Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda’s Sab (1841), Alberto Blest Gana’s Martín Rivas (1862), José Ramón de Betancourt’s Una feria de la caridad en 183… (1841, 1858), and José Milla’s Los Nazarenos (1867). In the four chapters of the dissertation, I analyze four different perspectives on gambling and its repercussions in society as it applies to gender (Chapters 1 and 2), social class (Chapter 3), and the role of the citizen in post-independence Latin American nation states (Chapter 4).

    Nivel de recordación de la Publicidad No Tradicional dentro de programas de televisión en jóvenes de 18 a 25 años de edad. Mariana Alasino Licenciatura en Publicidad | Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación | Universidad Abierta Interamericana | 03/07 1 Resumen En publicidad, es bien sabido que para liderar el mercado es fundamental estar un paso adelante de la competencia. Por eso, ya sea para crear una campaña, para promover el conocimiento, para lanzar o simplemente vender un producto o servicio , las empresas necesitan de recursos comunicacionales creativos y originales que logren instaurar la marca en la mente de consumidores que cada vez mas conocedores, exigen productos de excelencia. Debido a éstos reclamos por parte del público, y a causa de la realización del zapping, las agencias han creado la Publicidad No Tradicional, es decir, aquella que encontramos dentro de un programa de televisión. Y que puede presentarse de diferentes maneras, solo la marca, el producto en uso, el producto y la exaltación de sus características, y van desde los chivos (conductores que mencionan al producto en cámara), las barridas (presentaciones de notas), además de las que se incrustan en las historias de ficción o de las nuevas que auspician microprogramas. A lo largo de este trabajo, me basé en la percepción que tiene el televidente sobre la Publicidad No Tradicional. Verificando la inclusión de la misma, y teniendo en cuenta su forma, tiempo y cantidad de apariciones dentro de los canales y programas de televisión que mencionaré a continuación. También comparé los niveles de recordación entre la Publicidad No Tradicional con la Tradicional, llegando a diferentes conclusiones, apoyada en datos estadísticos que elaboré luego de encuestar en la cuidad de Nogoyá provincia de Entre Ríos a 100 jóvenes de entre 18 y 25 años de edad.
