  • Italian Americans of New York and New Jersey, a Two-Part Series Hosted by Journalist Maria Bartiromo
ITALIAN AMERICANS OF AND FEBRUARY 2015 NEW YORK NEW JERSEY The largest Italian American population in the United States influences many vibrant and ever-evolving neighborhoods of New York and New Jersey. To celebrate the lives, achievements, and culture Italian Americans have brought to the metro area, WLIW21 is presenting Italian Americans of New York and New Jersey, a two-part series hosted by journalist Maria Bartiromo. The series, a companion program to the PBS broadcast The Italian Americans (Thursdays, February 19 & 26 at 9pm), highlights this large community’s rich culture and influence, featuring interviews with experts in Italian-American history and culture and prominent Italian Americans, including New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, chef Lidia Bastianich, the late Governor of New York Mario Cuomo, singer Tony Bennett, actress Susan Lucci, former New York Senator Al D’Amato, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, journalist Steve Adubato, actor Joe Piscopo, and many others. The program is further enhanced by the personal stories, videos, and photos viewers have shared on the Italian Americans of New York and New Jersey webpage (thirteen.org/italian-americans-ny-nj). Host Maria Bartiromo (left) shares a moving testimonial about her Italian-American heritage and childhood in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where her family owned a restaurant called Rex Manor that was named after the boat that took her grandfather, Carmine — a brick layer from Salerno, Italy — to America in 1919. Working at The Rex was a true family affair for the Bartiromos and an invaluable lesson for young Maria about the importance of having a strong work ethic.

The studies also examined (a) whether the grammar could ac count for recall of both narrative and non-narrative stories, and (b) whether de velopmental differences exist in nodal recall for either television or radio. • MAY 2017 Florham Campus Anointed a New Jersey “Treasure”
Fairleigh Dickinson University’s MAY 2017 Florham Campus Anointed A New Jersey “Treasure” his month, NJTV is proud to introduce Treasures of New Jersey, a new documentary series that pays homage to some of the Garden State’s most iconic places, from historic landmarks and cultural centers to popular destinations. The debut episode features an architectural jewel from the gilded age: the former estate known as Florham, now a Fairleigh Dickinson T University campus in Morris County, New Jersey. The estate, named for the multi-millionaire couple who built it in the 1890s—Florence Adele Vanderbilt, granddaughter of railroad tycoon Cornelius Vanderbilt, and her husband Hamilton Twombly—has a mansion with more than 100 rooms and grounds designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. Florence Vanderbilt Twombly and one of her daughters were wealthy enough to continue living at Florham until the mid-1950’s. After they died within two years of each other, the family chose to subdivide and sell the estate. Fairleigh Dickinson University, which had a campus in Rutherford and another in Teaneck-Hackensack, decided to add a third campus and purchased the mansion and more than 100 acres surrounding it. Over the decades, the University has worked to maintain the historic buildings, grounds and gardens including the mansion itself, which now houses classrooms and offices featuring marble fireplaces imported from Europe, a sweeping staircase to the family’s rooms and other remarkable relics of the gilded age. Said NJTV General Manager John Servidio, “We’re looking forward to Florham being the first of many places profiled in Treasures of New Jersey.
