ITALIAN AMERICANS OF FEBRUARY 2015 NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY The largest Italian American population in the United States influences many vibrant and ever-evolving neighborhoods of New York and New Jersey. To celebrate the lives, achievements, and culture Italian Americans have brought to the metro area, WLIW21 is presenting Italian Americans of New York and New Jersey, a two-part series hosted by journalist Maria Bartiromo. The series, a companion program to the PBS broadcast The Italian Americans (Thursdays, February 26 & March 5 at 9pm), highlights this large community’s rich culture and influence, featuring interviews with experts in Italian-American history and culture and prominent Italian Americans, including New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, chef Lidia Bastianich, the late Governor of New York Mario Cuomo, singer Tony Bennett, actress Susan Lucci, former New York Senator Al D’Amato, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, journalist Steve Adubato, actor Joe Piscopo, and many others. The program is further enhanced by the personal stories, videos, and photos viewers have shared on the Italian Americans of New York and New Jersey webpage (thirteen.org/italian-americans-ny-nj). Host Maria Bartiromo (left) shares a moving testimonial about her Italian-American heritage and childhood in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, where her family owned a restaurant called Rex Manor that was named after the boat that took her grandfather, Carmine — a brick layer from Salerno, Italy — to America in 1919. I'm Jane Lindholm. Today we're going to bring you a special episode in-between our regularly scheduled shows. When I'm not working on But Why, I have a regular job making a radio show for VPR. [00:00:39] [Jane Lindholm]. It's called Vermont Edition, and on that show I interview all kinds of people who have connections to Vermont and New England. We talk about politics, breaking news, arts, culture, sports and anything else you can think of. The other day, I got to talk with two brothers who I thought you might enjoy hearing from. Chris and Martin Kratt are better known together as the Kratts. They have spent the last 20 years making educational TV shows for kids that introduce you to all kinds of animals around the world. The show you might see these days is called Wild Kratts and it's a PBS kids show. They've also done shows called Zoboomafoo, Kratts’ Creatures and Be the Creature. Martin and Chris spent a lot of their summer time as boys in a place in Vermont called the Northeast Kingdom. It's a very rural and still kind of wild part of the state up near the Canadian border. So we're going to play you my interview with them in this special episode; and they answered a lot of questions from kids who called in.

Sci. & Tech. 5(2): 63-69, 2015 The Factor Which Affect Juice Consumption of Families Who are Living in Edirne Province Ebru ONURLUBAŞ1, Neslihan YILMAZ2, Hasan Gökhan DOĞAN3 ÖZET: In this study, the juice consumption and the factors which affect the juice consumption of the families in the centre district of Edirne was investigated. The data used in the study have been obtained from the surveys conducted through face-to-face interviews with 384 families. In the study, it has been identified that a total of 82.8 % of the consumers consumed fruit juice. In the juice consumption the consumers prefer mostly cherry juice and cappy as a brand. In this research, Logit analysis was used to analyze the factors which affect the juice consumption of the families. According to analysis results; it is obvious that the level of income the families, their educational background, the number of the family members, the seasonal variables influence the juice consumption. (December 31, 2014) – Connecticut Public Television (CPTV) will host the U.S. broadcast premiere of Bala Brothers, Monday, January 12, live at 9 p.m. Bala Brothers, who will be live in the CPTV studios, grew up poor in a South African township and rose to become national singing stars while breaking through apartheid barriers. During the concert special, viewers will hear a mix of South African traditional music and contemporary songs from Elton John, Paul Simon and Billy Joel. During the live breaks, Bala Brothers will be interviewed in the studio. This program features the amazing musicianship of the three gifted brothers, who are already stars in their own country; they grew up in a home with dirt floors and no electricity, but were able to lift themselves out of poverty through their sheer talent. Brothers Zwai, Loyiso and Phelo come from a musical family, and all three possess remarkable innate musical abilities and singing voices. They remain influenced by their membership in South Africa’s famous Drakensberg Boys’ Choir.
