Mitsubishi Corporation Urban Development Inc. (MCUD) is pleased to announce that it has acquired a stake in Yokohama Akarenga Co. Ltd. (Yokohama Akarenga), a company owned by Mitsubishi Corporation (MC). Our June 30, 2015 purchase amounts to 67% of the total number of shares issued.

1. About the New Subsidiary, Yokohama Akarenga Yokohama Akarenga is a retail properties operator that manages the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, a historical building that was constructed in the late 19 th century. The building, which is located in Yokohama Harbor, includes a cultural facility (Building No. 1) that is used as a venue for art exhibitions, film festivals, plays and other events, and a retail property (Building No. 2) that features a shopping mall and restaurant arcade. Every year, the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse hosts a wide variety of events, and since its opening in 2002, it has become one of Yokohama’s most popular and widely recognized landmarks. The facility continues to attract tourists from and around the world, welcoming its 70 millionth visitor in December 2014.

2. Reason for Stock Acquisition As an income-generating property developer, MCUD has already launched seven projects, three involving retail properties, and four involving logistics facilities. Our overarching mission is to develop blue chip properties for consumers, tenants, investors, and local communities. By applying our diverse expertise and experience, we hope to add further vitality to the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, and in turn, leverage that vitality to contribute to a more prosperous Yokohama Harbor.

3. MCUD’s Future Initiatives Looking forward, MCUD will be applying its know-how in retail properties management to attract high-profile tenants to the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse and satisfy inbound demand, which is expected to increase. Our aim is to enhance this property in such a way that will invigorate Yokohama’s Minato Mirai 21 central business (MM21) district. Furthermore, MCUD is currently working on its MM21 Shinko District Block 4 development project (scheduled for completion in the spring of 2016). The project focuses on retail properties in the MM21 Shinko District Block 4. By creating synergy between this project and the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, and by further enlivening the entire MM21 district (a hub for tourist activity in Yokohama), we hope to help build a city of the broadest appeal.
