2019 Winter Universiade Games Team Canada Fundraising 2019 WINTER UNIVERSIADE GAMES TEAM CANADA FUNDRAISING WEBSITE LINK: https://www.rallyme.com/rallies/14106/teamcanadagamechanger A crowdfunding page has been set up for the 2019 Winter Universiade fundraising campaign for Team Canada. U SPORTS will be managing this page and the funds raised will go directly to the U SPORTS financial accounts provided. As a Team and Participant of Team Canada you have been provided with Roster Status for the fundraising tool. Each Sport has been provided with a designated page. This page contains the same information that is on the MAIN RALLY page (campaign information and how you can support) – but each team is provided with the opportunity to personalize the page as they want (ie. pictures, updates, rosters, bios). If your sport would like to add pictures, bios, updates to your designated page please send this information to Charonne Thomasos ([email protected]) and it will be uploaded for you. Your dedicated sport page is also available for contributors to donate funds directly to the specified sport team. Donations made from the main page will go to TEAM CANADA as a whole. ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN #GAMECHANGE Be a GAME CHANGER! Help make a difference and CHANGE THE GAMES for Team Canada’s student-athletes by donating to Team Canada for the 2019 FISU Winter Universiade. The 2019 Winter Universiade takes place March 2-12, 2019 in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. The FISU Universiade Games are the biggest multi-sport games for student-athletes, that take place every 2 years. In partnership with National Sport Organizations nation- wide, U SPORTS supports in the organization of Team Canada’s delegation for representation at these international events. These outstanding athletes are not just athletes… they are STUDENT-ATHLETES, balancing high performance athletics and higher education. Support, enables Team Canada to focus solely on performing at the higher possible level. HOW TO DONATE There are 3 ways to help support Team Canada: 1. TO TEAM CANADA - From the MAIN RALLY page click CONTRIBUTE – This donation will go directly to Team Canada as a whole. 2. TO A SPORTS TEAM - From the MAIN RALLY page click on a TEAM PAGE and click CONTRIBUTE – This donation will go directly to that SPORTS’ TEAM. (ie. Biathlon, Curling, etc.) 3. TO AN INDIVIDUAL – Contact U SPORTS directly to contribute to an individual taking part in the Winter Universiade. U SPORTS will accept cash, cheque or credit card (applicable credit card fees may apply) Contribution Reconciliations The fundraising campaign will be live until March 13, 2019. Contributions will be accepted until this time. NSOs are responsible for the full Games Costs amount as stipulated and outlined in prior documentation. Upon completion of the Games, U SPORTS will reconcile the funds raised (by sport) to determine if a reimbursement is required for each Team (based on invoiced amount minus funds raised). The commissioner of this thesis was Kontiolahti Sport Club. This organization was responsible for arranging Biathlon World Cup events in North Karelia region. One of the tasks was to hire volunteers for the days of the competition. The aim of this thesis was to gain information about volunteer persona with the help of Human Resource Management approaches in order to implement volunteer’s skills and knowledge in practice. This study was conducted utilizing quantitative research method. Theoretical framework includes topics of understanding the definition of volunteer tourism as an alternative type of tourism, motivational factors of voluntourists, as well as approaches in Human Resource Management. A survey was conducted within the BMW IBU World Cup event in Kontiolahti, and its results served as the primary data.

Abstract This thesis seeks to show through both historical and contemporary examples what makes Russia an ‘outlier’ among key sports mega-events hosts. More specifically, this thesis sets out to establish how external and internal objectives Russia pursued in the context of the 1980 Olympics and the 2014 Sochi Olympics differed from those of other sports mega-event hosts, including non-liberal states. The originality of this thesis lies not only in the fact that it sheds light on Russia’s strategy of sports mega-event hosting, but that it does so from the vantage point of the combination of the three most popular approaches in the extant sports mega-event research: public diplomacy, place branding and soft power. Moreover, this study places Russia’s hosting of sports mega-events within constructivist international relations theory, which prioritises identity and interests.
