Baden-Württemberg/ India
Consulate General of India Munich ***** General and Bilateral Brief- Baden-Württemberg/ India Baden-Württemberg located in Germany’s Southwest side, lies at the very heart of Europe and shares borders with two other European countries – France, Switzerland and three German States – Rhineland Palatinate, Hesse and Bavaria. In terms of both its area and population size, Baden- Württemberg is the third biggest among the 16 German States. The state population is 11 million. It is the third largest in Germany after North-Rhine Westphalia (17.93 million) and Bavaria (13.07 million) and is larger than individual population of 15 as many as other member states of the EU. (For more detail: Annexure – 1 & 2). Salient Features of Baden-Württemberg Geography: Baden-Württemberg with an area of 35,751 sqkm is characterized by a distinct landscape. In the West, the scenery is characterized by the Black Forest and the Rhine Plain, in the South by Lake Constance and the ridge of the Alps, in the East by the Swabian Alb hills, and in the North by the Hohenloh plain and the uplands of the Kraichgau region. Forest makes up around 40 per cent of Baden-Württemberg’s total area. People: The people of Baden-Württemberg are known for their innovative spirit and industriousness which largely compensates them for lack of natural resources in BW. Their skills and expertise, commitment to industry, science, education, culture have transformed South west Germany into one of the world’s most successful regions. The total foreign population of Baden-Württemberg is over 1.6 million (11%), making Baden- Württemberg one of the most immigrant-rich of Germany’s flatland states. -
900 Years Young ISBN 978-3-9819717-4-3
MAGAZINE FOR EXPLORERS AND LOVERS OF THE FINER THINGS IN LIFE 900 years young 978-3-9819717-4-3 ISBN EDITION 2020 2 Nominal price €3.50 Dear Readers The year 2020 marks a proud milestone for Freiburg that gives us pause to take stock of the past, consider our present and look ahead to our future. Tradition and deep historical ties may be rooted in the city’s spirit, but Freiburg is “900 years young” at heart! — Visible traces of history meld with a vibrant life in the here and now: Even though the clocks in the sunny southwest may have always run at a slightly different pace, time has by no means stood still here, which is evident in Freiburg wherever you look. The most beautiful spire in Christendom col- lides with the avant-garde architecture of a new university library, the tranquil activity on Münsterplatz (Cathedral Square) collides with the bus- tling atmosphere on Platz der Alten Synagoge (Old Synagogue Square) and a charming medieval and “Little Venice” flair collides with Freiburg’s lead- ing international role as a green city. As the warmest holiday spot in the tripoint area, where the borders of Germany, France and Switzerland con- verge, Freiburg combines an unbeatable climate with the best of all worlds and has leapt to the top of the most popular cities in Germany. As befits the anniversary year, this issue reveals just how well opposites go together here, where an appreciation of tradition pairs with a spirit of innovation, local pride with a cosmopolitan mindset and verve with an easygoing na- ture. -

Online Story: Meet Your Neighbour – Young European Adults German
Online story: Meet Your Neighbour – Young European Adults German contribution: It’s a rainy day in the south of Germany in the city of gold, Pforzheim. It's the beginning of July. As a German student you don`t know what to do in a weather like this - especially two weeks before the long summer holiday of six weeks - because usually at this time of the year the weather is quite good. Sarah has to get up early at 6am, five days a week. The 17-years-old girl eats her sausages, leaves the house at 7 am, like every morning. She is walking along the biggest river of Pforzheim, the Enz, like every morning. While she is looking at the running water, she is thinking about how to escape from her daily life into an exciting adventure. Suddenly, when she sees a poster of “The Economist” she is jerked out of her thoughts: “Oh…, my English homework, I wanted to reread my summary!” During her walk to school she takes out her homework and reads through it. It reads like this: ”The article is about the migration of workers from Romania and Bulgaria to rich countries in the EU after restrictions on the free movement of workers were lifted on January 1st 2014. Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, France and Austria are afraid of the consequences of unrestricted migration. The press and the public worry how many migrants will come. Will they take away low skill jobs? Will this create tensions? Will begging and sleeping rough shoot up, especially in big or industrial cities? Will the immigrants live off the black market, begging and petty crime? Will they be a burden on the welfare state by demanding access to social benefits? For the first time there is a mixture of anti-EU feelings and anti-immigration feelings. -
1 Introduction 2 the New Religious Orders 3 the Council of Trent And
NOTES 1 Introduction I. This term designates first of all the act of 'confessing' or professing a par ticular faith; secondly, it indicates the content of that which is confessed or professed, as in the Augsburg Confession; finally then it comes to mean the group that confesses this particular content, the church or 'confession'. 2 The New Religious Orders I. The terms 'order' and 'congregation' in this period were not always clear. An order usually meant solemn vows, varying degrees of exemption from the local bishop, acceptance of one of the major rules (Benedictine, Augustinian, Franciscan), and for women cloister.A congregation indicated simple vows and usually subordination to local diocesan authority. A con fraternity usually designated an association of lay people, sometimes including clerics, organized under a set of rules , to foster their common religious life and usually to undertake some common apostolic work. In some cases confraternities evolved into congregations, as was the case with many of the third orders, and congregations evolved into orders. 2. There is no effort here to list all the new orders and congregations that appeared in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. 3. An English translation of Regimini Militantis Ecclesiae, the papal bull of 27 September 1540 establishing the Society ofJesus, is found in John Olin, The Catholic Reformation: Savonarola to Ignatius Loyola: Reform in the Church, /495-1540 (New York: Harper and Row, 1969), pp. 203-8. 3 The Council of Trent and the Papacy I. Januar 2020 NR. 5 Liebe Bernauer Bevölkerung, liebe Feriengäste, im Blättle vom 17.01.2020 war ich noch optimistisch, dass das Schneeskulpturen-Festival stattfinden kann.
