This is the sixth annual A Celebration of Burgundy auction, and it might be the best one yet. The fi rst was held in the spring of 2012, and looking back it’s obvious that some things haven’t changed. Nine of the top ten most expensive lots sold that day came from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. This year, we project that eight of the top ten most expensive wines sold will be from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. DRC remains the undisputed king of Burgundy. Leroy prices have risen even higher, Rousseau remains in huge demand, and rare bottles from Henri Jayer are as expensive as always. We have also seen the revival of the wines of Francois Lamarche, the emergence of Arnaud Ente as a star of Meursault, and the changing of the Ben Nelson guard at Hudelot-Noëllat as Charles Van Canneyt takes that Domaine to new levels of quality. President Hart Davis Hart Wine Co. What defi nitely hasn’t changed is the diffi culty in convincing our consignors to part with their beloved Burgundy wines. For six straight years, this auction has been the hardest one to fi ll by far. The wines in the pages that follow are some of the most thrilling in the world. These are the crown jewels; they are made in tiny quantities, and in many cases are truly irreplaceable. They are so tough to let go. Which brings us to one of the greatest consignments of Burgundy wine ever to be sold at auction. A Cellar of Legendary Wines With Important Provenance (lots 454-613) contains some of the most signifi cant wines ever produced in Burgundy. The banded case of 1985 La Tâche (lot 465), which can be seen on the front cover of the catalog, sums up the consignment well. Wines from this cellar generated massive interest in our Celebration of Bordeaux auction last year due to the incredible provenance of the collection. Now is your chance to acquire exceptionally rare Burgundy from this special cellar, sourced from the likes of Singleton, Josey and Herbert Bridges Harris, Jr. In total, $1.2-1.8 million of DRC, $285,000-428,000 of Leroy, $123,000-184,000 of Rousseau and $114,000-171,000 of Henri Jayer wines will be sold across 1448 lots. All of the top producers of Burgundy are represented, from Coche-Dury, to Dujac, to Lefl aive, Ponsot, Roumier…you name it and you will fi nd it in the pages that follow. We hope to see you in the saleroom at TRU, and thank you for your interest in this special sale. Please enjoy! Sincerely, Ben Nelson President Consign with the #1 Wine Auction House in the U.S. Do you need to make room in your cellar? Have your collecting interests changed?
