WINES BY THE GLASS TASTE GLASS ❤Discovery of Livermore Valley 3oz 6oz ◙2. Sémillon, Kalin Cellars, Livermore Valley 2001 8.50 16.00 Made from 100 year old vines, the wine was fermented in French oak for ten months and bottled without filtration, and just released after 14 years in bottle. It boasts lots of vigor and youthfulness with a light gold color; aromas of gravel and honeysuckle; flavors of figs, orange marmalade, melons and Umami! “Most wines evoke the taste sensations of sweet, salty, bitter and sour. Kalin Cellars wines are among the VERY, VERY few wines presently available that evoke the FIFTH Taste of Umami.” _ From the winery "Nobody in America gets more finesse and complexity as well as flavor out of their sauvignon blanc and semillon than Kalin and its extremely talented winemaker Terry Leighton." _ Robert Parker ◙3. Sauvignon Blanc, Kalin Cellars “Reserve”, Livermore Valley 2001 8.50 16.00 100+ year old vines from the Wente estate vineyards, with 20% Semillon and cuttings from Chateau d’Yquem. Yep, 2001 is the current release as Terry Leighton doesn’t release his wines until it’s fully developed, and in the case of his Sauvignon Blanc – 12 to 14 years. "An incredibly fresh, exuberant wine with beautiful caramelized citrus, honeysuckle, lanolin, medium to full body, great acidity and a long, heady finish." _ Robert Parker 5. Merlot, Cuda Ridge, Livermore Valley 2015 6.50 12.50 “Vibrant and complex with fruit as the fundamental structure of this wine. Fragrant red fruit aromas. Bold and complex on the palate with plums, dark cherries, cassis, leather, chocolate. Well balanced tannins and acid makes for a juicy finish”. _ From the winemaker 6. Cabernet Sauvignon, Wood Family “Viva”, Livermore Valley 2015 6.50 12.00 “This wine is a beautiful purple-red, very much like the color of fresh-squeezed pomegranate juice. It has classic cassis fruit as well as the flavor of melt-in-your-mouth chocolate covered cherries... dusky aromas of forest floor and finely ground black pepper emerge. The palate continues with chocolate-cherry flavors. But, don’t be fooled, this wine is dry and it has warm, chewy tannins with moderate acidity. The finish is long with black licorice & well- integrated oak”. _ From the Winemaker. 7. Cabernet Sauvignon, McGrail “Reserve”, Livermore Valley 2014 9.50 18.00 Editors’ Choice. “Richly textured and generously flavored, this wine shows how good Livermore Cabernet can be. Aged in new Hungarian barrels, it has cedar and spice aromas, seductive ripe fruit flavors and a mouth-filling, palate-soothing viscosity bolstered by loads of fine-grained tannins. Best from 2018”. _ Wine Enthusiast 8. Lineage Bordeaux Style Red Blend, Steven Kent Winery, Livermore Valley 2014 32.00 60.00 50% Cabernet Sauvignon; 35% Cabernet Franc; 10% Merlot; 5% Petit Verdot. “…Very dark in color and potent in flavor, the wine has grand proportions but is finely polished, leaving no rough edges. It starts with light wood smoke and cedar aromas, and proceeds to mouthfilling black-cherry and dark- chocolate flavors on a creamy but moderately tannic texture. The tannins are well integrated, the flavors are deep and persistent”. _ Wine Enthusiast FLIGHTS TO EXPLORE LIVERMORE (2oz pour each. Crémant d’Alsace Brut, Dirler-Cade, Alsace 2014 6.50 12.00 "The 2014 Crémant d’Alsace Brut Nature blends Pinot Gris & Auxerrois with 5% of Pinot Noir, ... There is no dosage but a matured Riesling to fill the gap. The first part has been disgorged after 18 months. It is a light and delicate Crémant, …with a mineral backbone and a lovely refreshing and grippy finish." _ Stephan Reinhardt ☼12. Brut “Expression”, R.Geoffroy, Cumières - 1er Cru, Vallée de La Marne, Champagne NV 11.50 22.00 From a small grower & a premier cru village with red-grape dominated cuvées, it’s vibrant, graceful & silky. “This has a bright rose-hip and pink-fruit nose with a gently chalky edge. The palate has beautiful strawberry fruits and is really fresh and focused. Great finesse here. Polished tannins. Rich and pure. Drink now. A blend of 2010 and 2011: 50% Meunier, 40% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay." _ James Suckling ☼13. Brut Rosé Premier Cru, Gaston Chiquet, Champagne NV 11.50 22.00 40% Pinot Meunier, 30% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay. 1er Cru - Hautvillers, Dizy & Mareuil-sur-Aÿ; Grand Cru - Aÿ. “Fresh and open-knit, offering smoked almond, white peach, kumquat and white raspberry notes, with a lively bead and minerally finish…" _ Wine Spectator White Wines by the Glass 16. Pinot Grigio, Zuccolo, Friuli Grave, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy 2017 5.50 10.50 “Aromas of orchard fruit, wildflowers... Full and plush…; flavors of pear, white pepper, citrus”. _ From the winery 2/28/2019 Livermore 2 WINES BY THE GLASS CONTINUED… TASTE GLASS 3oz 6oz 19. Fiano di Avellino, Ciro Picariello, Campania, Italy 2016 8.00 15.00 Fiano was near extinction and saved here in Avellino. The wines are not unlike a white Burgundy in terms of its flintiness, spices and texture. This one, medium bodied, from high altitude vineyards, boasts aromas of flowers, apple and white peach; and fresh and savory flavors of citrus rind, nectarine and white fruit. 25. Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc “Le Grand Senais”, Dominique Crochet, Loire, France 2015 6.50 12.00 “Shiny yellow color. White flowers, citrus and pear powerful aromas. Also mineral. On the palate, the wine is smooth, full bodied and long on the finish…” _ From the Winemaker 30. Aligoté, Domaine Marc Colin, Côte-d’Or, France 2016 6.50 12.00 This famous white wine producer in Burgundy works some of greatest plots and vineyards including Le Montrachet & Bâtard-Montrachet. His Aligoté vines are from Puligny-Montrachet which are over 70 years old. This one boasts green apple, peach pit and creamy aromas; flavors of hazelnuts, white mushrooms, spices, and mineral qualities. 33. Chardonnay, Uncle Yu's by Navarro Vineyards, Mendocino 2016 6.50 12.00 Medium-bodied and flavored, not oaky, fresh with pear, apple and slight fig flavors. Good value. Toast and Give In memory of mezzo-soprano Zheng Cao $1 from every glass of Uncle Yu’s Chardonnay sold goes to support a young artist to follow in her footsteps at the Merola Opera Program and the San Francisco Opera Center and to support the music program at St. Martin de Porres School in Oakland, championed by Zheng's mentor, world renowned mezzo-soprano, Frederica von Stade. 34. Chablis Chardonnay, Jean-Marc Brocard “Sainte-Claire”, Côte-d’Or, France 2017 7.50 14.00 “The 2017 Chablis Domaine Sainte Claire is appreciably superior, wafting from the glass with aromas of lemon oil, wheat toast and dried white flowers. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, glossy and textural, with more concentration, depth and tension”.
