From the Pastor:

Well it was just a wonderful day! I’m speaking about the Confirmation Conference which took place last Saturday. Over 275 rising 9th and 10th graders had the opportunity to participate in sessions that addressed their specific questions and concerns. Kudos to the entire PSR Staff (Colleen, Cindy, Ashley, Jeanne, Rebecca, and Debbie) who under the direction of Rosemary Potts, our Director of Religious Education, and Kendra Lockhart, our Confirmation Coordinator, ran a well-planned and well executed Conference. Check out the pictures on the page 7.

I say this every year – I can’t believe that school is gearing back up and starting soon. I’ve just gotten in stride with the summer. Next week, at each of the Masses, we will bless all of our parish families who will be heading back to classrooms. Our prayers for a richly rewarding and satisfying school year, one filled with an increase of wisdom and knowledge, is our parish prayerful request.

Today we honor Jose Caudillo as he completes his Seminarian assignment at St. Peter Chanel. It’s hard to believe that this yearlong pastoral assignment is coming to an end. If you have a moment, please stop and wish him well as he continues his formation towards Priesthood. If you want to send him a note, here is his address after August 15th:

Mr. Jose Caudillo University of St. Mary of the Lake Mundelein Seminary 1000 E. Maple Avenue Mundelein, IL 60060

I know you join me in wishing him only the best – he will be missed.

See you at Mass,

FIFTH SUNDAY ROSARY Please join in a recitation of the Rosary in the narthex between the 9:00 and 10:45 am Masses.

Today is a Fifth Sunday of the month. 11330 Woodstock Road Roswell, GA 30075 Seventeenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Page 3

“Why did I wait so long? Did I think someone would come knocking at my door with all the answers I needed? I attended my first CRHP retreat in search of having a deeper relationship with Jesus and finding spiritual friendships with other women. I found exactly what I was looking for during the most amazing weekend. I felt renewed in my faith and energized to share it with others. It was truly a life altering experience that has not only strengthened my faith but has also lead me to find those meaningful friendships that I was looking for.” — Chrissy Nielsen

The story of the multiplication of the loaves and the fishes recalls a particular aspect of the Mass—the Eucharist! In this miracle, Jesus transforms a young boy’s offering of five barley loaves and two fish. In the offertory at Mass, we present the fruits of our labors, represented by bread and wine. These gifts, given to us first by God as grain and fruit, are returned to God in our offering of thanksgiving. God in turn transforms our gifts, making this bread and wine the very Body and Blood of Jesus. Our word Eucharist is taken from the Greek language and describes an action: “to give thanks.” In the Eucharist we are fed by Jesus himself, and we are sent to serve others.

Life Night: Who Am I?—Sunday, July 29th, 6-8 pm What exactly is a vocation? While most people think of a vocation as what they are called to DO in life, it is important to understand that the first and most important call from God is a call of what they are to BE in life—the universal call to holiness. Your vocation is not the same as your career or profession, but there is some overlap. A vocation isn’t ‘What do I prefer?' but rather ‘What does God want me to be?’ All parish teens are invited to join us on Sunday evening for a program on vocations and discovering who we are in Christ. If you’re coming to the 5:00 pm Mass, meet us in the narthex by 4:50 pm so we can sit together. See you soon! St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church Page 10 July 29, 2018
