Bright peaks, dark shadows 20 February 2012, by Jason Major Amaral's "blue" peaks seen in a color-enhanced global image acquired Jan. 14, 2008. Its central peaks also attracted astronomers' MESSENGER image of Mercury's Amaral crater interest, as they were seen to possess a striking blue hue in color-enhanced images that likely indicates rocks with different composition from the surrounding surface. The 68-mile (109-km) -wide Amaral crater on Mercury reveals its brightly-tipped central peaks in Amaral's peaks resemble those of the slightly larger this image, acquired by NASA's MESSENGER crater Eminescu, which is now known to contain spacecraft on Feb. 4, 2012. Long shadows are recently-discovered features called hollows. It's not cast by the crater's peaks and rugged rim (north is yet known if Amaral also contains hollows, but it's to the left.) suspected that they may be present on the tips of the peaks. The presence of these Thermal stress tracks shows that these rocks have fallen relatively recently because aeolian processes are known to infill Ices topographic lows over time. Mapping of rockfall tracks indicate trends in frequency with orientation, which in Solar radiation turn depend on the latitudinal position of the crater. Craters in the equatorial belt (between 15 N and 15 S) Weathering exhibit higher frequencies of rockfall on their north-south oriented slopes compared to their east-west ones. Craters >15 N/S have notably higher frequencies on their equator-facing slopes as opposed to the other ori entations. We computed solar radiation on the surface of crater slopes to compare insolation patterns with the spatial distribution of rockfalls, and found statistically significant correlations between maximum diurnal inso lation and rockfall frequency.

Collection Highlights Since its founding in 1924, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts has built a collection of nearly 5,000 artworks. Enjoy an in-depth exploration of a selection of those artworks acquired by gift, bequest, or purchase support by special donors, as written by staff curators and guest editors over the years. Table of Contents KENOJUAK ASHEVAK Kenojuak Ashevak (ken-OH-jew-ack ASH-uh-vac), one of the most well-known Inuit artists, was a pioneering force in modern Inuit art. Ashevak grew up in a semi-nomadic hunting family and made art in various forms in her youth. However, in the 1950s, she began creating prints. In 1964, Ashevak was the subject of the Oscar-nominated documentary, Eskimo* Artist: Kenojuak, which brought her and her artwork to Canada’s—and the world’s—attention. Ashevak was also one of the most successful members of the Kinngait Co-operative, also known as the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative, established in 1959 by James Houston, a Canadian artist and arts administrator, and Kananginak Pootoogook (ka-nang-uh-nak poo-to-guk), an Inuit artist. The purpose of the co-operative is the same as when it was founded—to raise awareness of Inuit art and ensure indigenous artists are compensated appropriately for their work in the Canadian (and global) art market. Ashevak’s signature style typically featured a single animal on a white background. Inspired by the local flora and fauna of the Arctic, Ashevak used bold colors to create dynamic, abstract, and stylized images that are devoid of a setting or fine details.

Advances in Space Research 33 (2004) 2152–2155 www.elsevier.com/locate/asr Space weathering on Mercury S. Sasaki *, E. Kurahashi Department of Earth and Planetary Science, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo 113 0033, Japan Received 16 January 2003; received in revised form 15 April 2003; accepted 16 April 2003 Abstract Space weathering is a process where formation of nanophase iron particles causes darkening of overall reflectance, spectral reddening, and weakening of absorption bands on atmosphereless bodies such as the moon and asteroids. Using pulse laser irra- diation, formation of nanophase iron particles by micrometeorite impact heating is simulated. Although Mercurian surface is poor in iron and rich in anorthite, microscopic process of nanophase iron particle formation can take place on Mercury. On the other hand, growth of nanophase iron particles through Ostwald ripening or repetitive dust impacts would moderate the weathering degree. Future MESSENGER and BepiColombo mission will unveil space weathering on Mercury through multispectral imaging observations. Ó 2003 COSPAR. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. 1. (1975) proposed that formation spectral mismatch between lunar soils and rocks, and of iron particles with sizes from a few to tens nanome- between asteroids (S-type) and ordinary chondrites. ters should be responsible for the optical property Most of lunar surface and asteroidal surface exhibit changes, impact-induced formation of glassy materials darkening of overall reflectance, spectral reddening had been considered as a primary cause for space (darkening of UV–Vis relative to IR), and weakening of weathering.

  • Pelindungan Hukum Terhadap Minuman Alkohol Tradisional Khas Indonesia
Pelindungan Hukum terhadap Minuman Alkohol Tradisional Khas Indonesia Legal Protection towards Indonesian Traditional Alcoholic Beverages Cita Yustisia Serfiyani,* Iswi Hariyani,** Citi Rahmati Serfiyani*** *Fakultas Hukum Universitas Wijaya Kusuma Surabaya, Jalan Dukuh Kupang XXV/54, Surabaya, **Fakultas Hukum Universitas Jember, Jalan Kalimantan 37 Jember, ***Fakultas Hukum Universitas Airlangga, Jalan Airlangga 4-6 Surabaya Email: [email protected] Naskah diterima: 27 Juni 2020 Naskah direvisi: 28 September 2020 Naskah diterbitkan: 1 November 2020 Abstract Traditional alcoholic beverages have existed in Indonesian culture and society for various purposes. Its existence has been influenced by the concoction of alcoholic beverages which adversely affects the traditional alcoholic beverages’ image. These beverages are actually Intellectual Property Rights, IPR-based products of cultural heritage with indications of origin that have characteristics so that they cannot be compared to other countries’ alcoholic beverages, even though current regulations still regulate the opposite. This paper examines the legal protection of Indonesian traditional alcoholic beverages which are also adapted to their characteristics and the influence of Indonesian legal culture on these traditional alcoholic beverages. This research is a normative study with statutory, conceptual, and comparative approach method with South Korea and France as a comparison. Prudent and objective legal protection from the point of view of IPR for traditional alcoholic beverages is expected to develop positive aspects while still anticipating negative ones. This study concludes that Indonesian traditional alcoholic beverages that fulfill 3 unique characteristics can be protected as intangible cultural heritage (public property) or an indication of origin (belongs to local communities), although what is more appropriate now is an indication of origin so that the Government needs to adjust the regulatory design, especially at the national level, according to the indication of origin.
