Laundry waste uses soap, soda, detergents and other chemicals for removal of stains, oil, grease and dirt from the soil clothing. The laundry waste is originated in the residential zone on account of manual cleaning, cleaning by domestic washing machines as well as large amount of effluents are generated by commercial washing including dry-cleaning. An attempt has been made in the present investigation to generalize the characteristics of laundry effluent generated by various sources in Vadodara (Gujarat). It has been found during the laboratory studies, that SS, BOD and COD of laundry waste are high. Treatability studies were carried out in the environmental engineering laboratory of B.V.M. Engineering College, V.V.Nagar for removal of these contaminants. The coagulation-flocculation followed by dual media filtration was found to be most suitable sequence of the treatment. The stu- dents were asked to indicate their management problems and practices of food, clothing, and money, their housing conditions, their problems in finding recreation and transportation, and their problems in their academic work and in practicing their religion. All students were enrolled in the University at the time of the interview. Of the group, 25 were males and 16 were females. Twenty -eight were working for their Master's degrees and 10 were working for a Doctor's degree; three students were taking graduate courses but not working for degrees. When the students were asked about their food managment problems and practices, 35 students indicated that they prepared their own meals, while three students ate with American families, two ate in boarding houses, and one in a cooperative. More than half of the 35 students who cooked their own meals planned them depending on what they had on hand in kitchen cabinets and in the refrigerator. Over one -half of these 35 students shopped for food once a week; however 19 made no shopping list of groceries to buy. Twenty -one of the 41 students had received or were receiving native foods from their own countries .

Thesis Department of Political Science University of Toronto 2009 Abstract: This dissertation explains why and how, in the absence of direct federal participation, the Canadian provinces invest at comparable levels, achieve similar outcomes, and produce similar policies while simultaneously maintaining distinctive policy particularities in the elementary and secondary education sector. Given the limited national direction and the extensive autonomy afforded the Canadian provinces, for both students of federalism and education policy, the significant interprovincial similarities appearing across the subnational education sectors are a puzzle to be explained. I develop this analysis by exploring my puzzle in two comparative contexts: cross-nationally and longitudinally. To account for patterns of educational policy similarity and difference, the dissertation points to the movement of policy ideas across the provinces in response to their increasing legal, economic, organizational, and cultural interconnectedness. My dissertation argues that as interconnections among the provinces increased, the movement of policy ideas across the provinces intensified. As policy ideas moved, provincial governments would determine whether a policy from another jurisdiction could be suitable in their own. The subsequent decision to adopt the policy of another turned critically on both the existing relations between the jurisdictions and viability of the new idea within the internal policy context of the receiving jurisdiction.

He was on the faculty of the Teacher's College, Columbia University, New York (1966- 1974), including two years as head of the Department of Science Education. He was Dean of Education at Memorial University (1974-1977). He then joined the faculty and administration of Simon Fraser University as Dean of the Faculty of Education (1977-1984) and Academic Vice- President and Provost (1984-1989). He was appointed as the University of Saskatchewan's seventh President in November 1989, and served two terms, until 1999.

AUCC’s Technical Cooperation division manages three major projects in Russia that create opportunities for Canadian university faculty engagement, while at the same time improving Russia’s juvenile justice, its approach to federalism, and its northern ?socio-economic development strategies. AUCC awards about $11 million in scholarships annually to about 3,500 worthy recipients on behalf of approximately 150 Canadian companies. Each year, AUCC responds to nearly 6,000 inquiries from students and their parents about higher education in Canada, mostly from international students. Almost three-quarters of them are looking for information about university scholarships, programs and admission requirements. Of AUCC’s 89 members, almost 70 percent attended AUCC membership meetings over the past year, and more than half are engaged in the Association’s Board of Directors or committees.
