The main concern is that there has been increased catalogue sizes to cater for a larger foal crop of 2015, so the necessity for breeders to focus on quality and value is more important than ever. Happily we have witnessed another fantastic year for ACCLAMATION’s progeny on the track with 17 Black Type performers including Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye winner MARSHA and Dual Group 2 winning 2-Y-O MEHMAS. LIMATO has again proved a great advertisement for TAGULA in 2016, when competing at the highest level. He was successful in Group 1 July Cup and Group 1 Prix de la Foret and we look forward to even more successes for him in 2017. As we write the first crop foals by the Group 2 Winning and Dual Group 1 placed 2-Y-O MOOHAAJIM and the Dual Group 1 Winning Miler, XTENSION, are being prepared for the sales ring and we are confident that you will be impressed by their excellent quality and confirmation. In 2017 we are proud to introduce two new stallions which will offer breeders a great variety of choice to our existing roster - AJAYA, the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes Winning 2-Y-O by Leading Sire Invincible Spirit from an established stallion producing female line and KODI BEAR, the Group 2 Winner of 4 Stakes Races from 7-8 furlongs, by Multiple Stakes Producing sire Kodiac. We are confident that both horses will fit the varied requirements of breeders, given their diversity of distances, bloodlines and performances and we invite your inspection in person over the coming weeks.     The QIPCO Guineas Festival 2021 Featured Image: https://www.flickr.com/photos/113417287@N08 © 2021 TGH Trading Ltd – All Rights Reserved The 2021 Qipco Guinea’s Festival at Newmarket is a weekend of world class turf flat racing over two days, featuring the first two Classic races of the new turf flat season, the 1000 and 2000 Guineas, which form part of the British Champion Series. First run in 1809 the 2000 Guineas, a race ran for 3 year old colts and fillies and named after the amount of Prize Money on offer, was followed 5 years later, in 1814, by the addition of the 1000 Guineas, a race solely for 3 year old fillies. Both races are run on the Newmarket Rowley Mile course on consecutive days. The 2000 Guineas on day 1 is a test of speed for the thoroughbred runners and the prize money on offer for the winner this year amounts to a hefty £212,663, with the race forming the first part of the English Triple Crown which also includes the Epsom Derby and the St Leger. The English Triple Crown has been won by 15 horses over its years (including 3 winners of substitute races at Newmarket during World War I). The most recent and most popular is Nijinsky back in 1970 ridden by the famous Lester Piggott. Steve Mellish explains in the video below why achieving the Triple Crown is such a difficult task.     Trainers Profile Asami, Hidekazu Cup – Sungrazer Age: 67. Hidekazu Asami is the son of Kuniichi Asami, a former champion jockey and trainer in Japan. Asami worked at his father’s stable from 1973 and he obtained his trainer’s licence in 1991. His first G1 win came seven years later when Mejiro Bright took the Tenno Sho Spring in 1998. Yamanin Sucre (2003 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies), 2006 Hong Kong Vase fourth Song Of Wind (2006 Kikuka Sho), Reginetta (2008 Oka Sho) and Rainbow Line (2018 Tenno Sho Spring) brought further top-class successes to his stables. He has amassed a total of 583 JRA wins in his career, including 29 of them this year (as of 19 November). Hong Kong wins: 0 Balding, Andrew Mile – Beat The Bank Age: 45. Andrew Balding is the son of legendary English trainer Ian, who prepared Mill Reef, one of the greatest European horses of the last century. He was an amateur rider and assisted his father for four years. He took over at Kingsclere Stables in January, 2003 and won his first Classic that June, the Oaks with Casual Look. Phoenix Reach notched an international G1 treble in the 2004 Canadian International, 2004 Hong Kong Vase and the 2005 Dubai Sheema Classic. His next G1 came eight and a half years later with Side Glance in the 2013 Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington, Australia and in 2017 he won two G1s – the Sussex Stakes (Here Comes When) and the E P Taylor Stakes (Blond Me). He has had his best ever season in 2018 with 122 wins and over £2.57 million in the bank in Britain alone.

The champ, riding in his last Grand National, in what would be his last race if he happened to win it. That would be the story of stories. Of course, there are other stories lurking. Like the Pineau De Re story, bidding to become the first back-to-back winner since Red Rum. Or the Lord Windermere or Spring Heeled story, both trying to win for Jim Culloty the trainer, 13 years after Bindaree won for Jim Culloty the rider. Or the First Lieutenant story, Mouse Morris' horse set to be ridden by Nina Carberry. Never before has a female rider won the Grand National. Well, Katie Walsh won the Irish National on Monday, so why not? Here are five things that you might keep in mind as you are searching for the Grand National winner: No seven-year-old has won the National since Bogskar in 1940, and none has finished placed in the race since 1971. That makes it difficult for Cause Of Causes and Unioniste. Bindaree in 2002 is the last eight-year-old to win it, and he was only the third eight-year-old since Red Rum won his first in 1973.
