These plans are for guidance only and must not be relied upon as a statement of fact. Attention is drawn to the Important Notice. Historical note u Little is known of the early history of this house or its owners, except that, on the attainder of Edward, Duke of Buckingham Henry VIII granted it to a Thomas Henneage. However, the Henneages do not seem to have remained in possession for long and in 1649 Richard Allen, a fuller of Bath, sold to Thomas Skey a messuage of land at Falfield. The deeds referred to the house as newly erected and for the next 150 years the property seems to have remained in the hands of the Skeys whose name is still perpetuated in Skey’s Copse and upon a circular stone basin of an old cider mill still present, dated 1707 and bearing the initials “W.S”. u In 1803 William Skey, the last of the male line, died leaving a daughter Jane as a sole heiress and in 1810 Jane married Peter Edward Scobell of Penzance. Jane moved to Penzance and Heneage Court was then a let farm causing it to suffer neglectful treatment and rough usage. When bought by the well known Bristolian Mr Russell Thomas in 1912 he instructed its repair and enlargement through his architect, Mr Edward Warren. So as not to impair its original style and character, the dwelling was entirely reroofed with Gloucestershire Slates from Stonesfield. The fine old panelling still present today was restored as was an 18th century chimney piece in oblation style taken from a house at Bristol and installed in the Drawing Room.
