Campilaro Pyrenees 2018 Campilaro Pyrenees 2018 A unique 3 days cyclo sportive across the historical climbs of the Pyrenees www.campilaro.com THE CAMPILARO IN A GLIMPSE The Campilaro is a 3 day, 4 stages cyclo sportive created in 2015 offering full service to all cycling enthusiasts, race riders and cyclo tourists, licensees and non-licensees, aged 18 and more. All participants can register solo or as a team. Managed and powered by experienced regional organizers, the Campilaro proposes an unique Pyrenean experience: crossing with full support and comfort the mythical climbs that wrote and are still writing cycling history. Its format is also unique: the Campilaro is timed only on selected climbs, giving each rider in the peloton the chance to manage the race as she or he wishes. Riders followers, friends and families will also enjoy the quality of the Pyrenean hospitality and will be able to follow the race with precise road book information. The Campilaro is strictly limited to 198 bib numbers, honoring the number of riders in historical cycling Grands Tours and staying faithful to its values of proximity and exclusivity. 3 DAYS 4 STAGES 8 PASSES 330 KM 8000 M+ TIMING MEDICAL MECHANICAL ASCENT (ON SELECTED SECTIONS) ASSISTANCE ASSISTANCE SECURED MASSAGE ON RACE GOURMET ROADS SERVICE FEED ZONES HEALTHY MEALS HOTEL STAGE LUGGAGES DETAILED ACCOMODATION TRANSFERS TRANSFERS ROAD BOOK CAMPILARO PYRENEES 2018 EDITION For its fourth edition, our cyclo sportive confirms its international dimension by both returning to Spain and by welcoming more and more riders from all over the world: Belgium, Mexico, Romania, Canada and New Zealand, to name a few, were all represented on the 2017 edition! This upcoming edition features a new route around two host cities, Luchon and Vielha in the Val d'Aran, with always the same desire, to introduce our guests to the legendary Pyrenean passes: Those famous passes climbed in major professional cycling events such as the Tour de France, the Vuelta or the Route du Sud ... what would indeed these great tours be without these roads once carved into the mountain to link the valleys and which are now at the heart of the legend of the sport. We don’t forget either the less publicly known passes, away from the mythical roads but equally grandiose in terms of difficulty and aesthetics! A new format of 4 stages over three days has been developed. During the second day there will be 2 half stages, starting in the morning with an individual time trial. Campilaro 2018 is to take place from July 19th to 22nd, for a total of about 330 kilometers and 8,000 meters of ascent. Arrivals are scheduled for Thursday, July 19th in Luchon. The 2018 route includes 8 major mountain passes: The Port de Balès (1755 m), the Col de Mente (1350 m), the Col des Ares (797m), Superbagnères (1800 m), the Col du Portillon (1296 m), the Bassa d’Oles (1599 m), Les Agudes (1560 m) and the Bourg d’Oueil. The size of the event was perfect and and I will encourage my friends to join next year! ‘’ ‘’ It was my first ''stage'' cyclo sportive and everything was perfect: quality of the routes, diversity of the feed zones food, security, timing... thank you! The Campilaro is unique, I'll be back! ‘’ AND NOT ONLY FOR THE BIKE RIDES AND THE ASTONISHING LANDSCAPES… France is also known worldwide for its ‘’art of the table’’ and on the Campilaro, nutiriton takes the gourmet way. Coming from Toulouse and following every stage of the race, our dedicated catering service cooks and prepares on the spot, with fresh local ingredients, well balanced meals established with our nutritionists after each race day. The tasting pleasure adds up to the physical and visual enjoyment of the day on the Campilaro! ‘’ We come as a group every year since the first edition in 2014.

The Pyrenees A Greentours Holiday for the Alpine Garden Society 10th to 23rd June 2011 Led by Paul Cardy Trip Report and Systematic Lists by Paul Cardy Day 1 Friday 10 th June Arrival and Transfer to Formigueres Having driven from the south western Alps and reached Carcassonne the previous evening, I continued to Toulouse to meet the group at the airport. I was unexpectedly delayed by French customs who stopped me at the toll booth entering the city. There followed a lengthy questioning, as I had to unpack the contents of my suspiciously empty Italian mini-bus and show them my two large boxes of books, suitcase full of clothes, picnic supplies, etc., to convince them my purpose was a botanical tour to the Pyrenees. Now a little late I arrived breathlessly at Toulouse airport and rushed to the gate to meet Margaret, and the New Zealand contingent of Chris, Monica, Archie and Lynsie, hurriedly explaining the delay. Anyway we were soon back on the motorway and heading south towards Foix. White Storks in a field on route was a surprise. We made a picnic stop at a functional aire where there were tables, and a selection of weedy plants. Black Kite soared overhead. Once past Foix and Ax-les- Thermes the scenery became ever more interesting as we wound our way up to a misty Col de Puymorens. There a short stop yielded Pulsatilla vernalis in fruit and Trumpet Gentians. Roadside cliffs had Rock Soapwort, Saxifraga paniculata , and Elder-flowered Orchids became numerous. Now in the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Catalanes, a fascinating route down into the valley took us through Saillagouse and Mont-Louis before heading up a minor road to the village of Formigueres, our base for the first three nights.
