Luego decae algo, remontando con la preciosa balada final.Las primeras canciones transmiten una sensación de vitalismo imparable, de ese que hace que un día cualquiera sea el de la conquista mundial de la libertad para todos en la Tierra. Y es que las letras –en entrañable francés y en bambara- son preciosas. Perlas de humanismo en el que las personas y también los más simples y cotidianos objetos son bienes que hay que cuidar, por muy viejos que sean. Es la economía de la subsistencia, del reciclaje, del ahorro. No del derroche. Pero los tiempos del dorado y orgulloso Tombuctú siguen vivos en la memoria, vienen a decirnos esta dulce pareja de ciegos que ven mucho más que la mayoría.La mano de Manu Chao se nota y mucho en el disco. La guitarra esperanzadora y los ritmos mezclados marcan la pauta. La voz del barcelonés sigue siendo bella, sus canciones siguen incidiendo en el concepto de tiempo, en un viaje internacional sin final. Sintetizadores simples, a mano alzada, y percusiones del desierto componen un pequeño y muy disfrutable mosaico de sensaciones, inventadas durante un domingo cualquiera en Bamako. This is the former Rilo Kiley frontwoman’s third solo album and first in six years, following 2006’s Rabbit Fur Coat (with The Watson Twins) and 2008’s Acid Tongue. The Voyager is Lewis’s most deeply personal album to date, documenting her struggle to cope following the death of her estranged father in 2010 and the subsequent break-up of Rilo Kiley. The Voyager’s rootsy, golden glow comes courtesy of Lewis and the artists she chose to produce various tracks, including Ryan Adams (who, alongside Mike Viola, produced all but three of the tracks), Beck, and Lewis’ longtime collaborator Johnathan Rice.
