Sally Jane is making her mark in the Australian Country music scene with the recent award of People’s Choice at the WA Country Music Awards. Sally was also a finalist in the emerging artist category for 2020 and won Junior Vocalist of the year for 2019. Sally Jane an endorsed artist and ambassador for Takamine Guitars and PRO Music Australia graduated the CMAA Senior Academy in 2020 and performed at a number of venues during Australia’s largest music festival in Tamworth. Sally opened the festival on the main stage and performed harmonies for 9-time Golden Guitar winner Lyn Bowtell. At the 2019 Red Country Music Festival (RCMF) in Port Hedland, Sally Jane was a support act for headline Troy Cassar-Daly following a meeting with fellow WA musician Bradley Hall in Tamworth, Sally has recently been invited to return to RCMF for 2020. ‘Beersheba’ is Sally Jane’s debut single, co-written with Allan Caswell, ‘Beersheba’ is a tribute to the Australian Lighthorse charge at Beersheba and was first performed at the 100th anniversary re- enactment of the charge, in cooperation with the Returned Services League. ‘Beersheba’ was a semi- finalist in the Tamworth Songwriters Association - Anzac song of the year award. The first full-length album of material from Fox's smash summer television hit, "American Idol," will include four songs by Clarkson, two by runner-up Justin Guarini, a song each by the remaining eight finalists, and “California Dreamin’” performed by all ten. All 14 tracks on American Idol: Greatest Moments, produced by Steve Lipson (Backstreet Boys, Annie Lennox), were performed on "American Idol" during the final weeks of the reality-based television barnburner. NEW YORK, NEW YORK: Recently in the news with their landmark reissue of 22 early Rolling Stones and five Sam Cooke albums on hybrid Super Audio Compact Disc, ABKCO Records has installed a stereo pair of ATC SCM50ASL Pro active three-way monitor speakers in the company's pre-production listening environment. Ideally suited to medium-sized rooms, the ATC SCM50 reference monitors are primarily used for such critical tasks as archive research, track sequencing, and quality control of digitally re-mastered material at ABKCO's Manhattan facility. They're very musical and have great mid-range, and they're so accurate," says chief audio engineer and tape archive researcher Teri Landi of the ATC monitors. ATC manufactures all of its monitor system component parts in-house, including the company's unique SM75-150S mid-range soft dome driver, which is combined with an ATC 234mm (9-inch) Super Linear bass driver in the SCM50. The ATC Super Linear woofer is the best woofer in production anywhere. The active design of the SCM50 ensures optimum matching of six MOS-FET amp blocks to the drivers. In addition to a flat reference response, an LF contour control offers five bass boost settings. Specht. 1 Journal of Texas Music History, Vol. 9 [2009], Iss. 1, Art. 4 “Don’t Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes”: Slim Willet’s Idiosyncratic Chart-Topper Lives on In the fall of 1952, and well on into 1953, the nation’s radio airwaves and jukeboxes were filled with the sound of “Don’t Let the Stars Get in Your Eyes.” The song, penned by Abilene disc jockey Slim Willet, was all the rage with four different versions in Billboard’s Country & Western Top 10. On Billboard’s Pop chart, Perry Como took the song to Number 1, selling over one million copies. Willet, born Winston Lee Moore on December 1, 1919, in Victor, Texas, (western Erath County), began his radio career in the late 1940s at Abilene’s Hardin-Simmons University. While working as student manager of KHSU, the school radio station, Moore adopted the pseudonym “Slim,” because he was anything but slender. He took Willet from the Willets, characters in 37 his favorite comic strip Out Our Way. After graduating from Hardin-Simmons in 1949, Slim went to work for Abilene radio station KRBC. He also wrote songs, and in 1950, he recorded one of his signature tunes, “I’m a Tool Pusher from Snyder,” for Dallas-based Star Talent Records.
