Saosin by Neelofer Lodhy, Editor
2006-2007 http://www.elsegundousd.com/eshs/bayeagle0607/October11thP23Saosi... Saosin by Neelofer Lodhy, Editor Finally! After such a long wait of anticipation and excitement, Saosin is finally back with their new self-titled album! After the release of an EP (2003), Saosin finally decided to release their first album. The band's genre is listed as post-hardcore and emo. Originally from Newport Beach, the band formed back in 2003, and is signed with record label Capitol Records. The band's original vocalist Anthony Green left Saosin and later joined a well-known band today called Circa Survive after the release of their first EP. Saosin definitely did a great job finding a new vocalist Cove Reber, because Cove and Anthony sound extremely similar, especially if you are hearing both bands for the first time. After a change of three band members, Saosin now consists of Cove Reber on lead vocals, Beau Berchell as guitarist and vocals, Justin Shekoski on guitar and vocals as well, Chris Sorenson on bass and vocals, and Alex Rodriguez on drums. Saosin's initial discography consisted of EP's such as Translating the Name (2003), Translating the Name Acoustic (2003), their self-titled Saosin EP, and finally their first real album also self-titled Saosin (2006). Saosin's current singles include songs off the EP such as the very well known Bury Your Head (included on the new album), Seven Years, I Want to Hear Another Fast Song, also titled Sleepers (also included on the new album), and the newest addition off the fresh album, Voices. -

Radiohead members independently released the album with Nigel Godrich, an arrangement they used for their subsequent albums. In addition to the song Lucky, recorded in 1995, Radiohead recorded OK Computer in Oxfordshire and Bath between 1996 and early 1997, mainly in the historic St Catherine's Court mansion. The band distanced themselves from the guitar, lyrically introspective style of their previous album The Bends. THE abstract texts of OK Computer, densely layered sound and eclectic influences laid the groundwork for Radiohead's later, more experimental works. The album depicts a world fraught with unbridled consumerism, social exclusion, emotional isolation and political malaise; as such, OK Computer is said to have a prophetic understanding of the mood of 21st century life. Unconventional production methods on the album include natural reverb through recording on the stairs, and the lack of audio separation, allowing the instruments not to reconnect separately. -

PRESS RELEASE for IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, October 7, 2011 CONTACT: Patrick Finlon, Marketing Director 315-443-2636 Or [email protected]
PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Friday, October 7, 2011 CONTACT: Patrick Finlon, Marketing Director 315-443-2636 or [email protected] Syracuse Stage’s The Boys Next Door Finds Comedy and Compassion in a Group Home for People with Developmental Disabilities (Syracuse, NY)—Meet Arnold Wiggins. He’s basically a nervous person. He lives with Lucien P. Smith who fancies very big books, and Norman who works in the doughnut shop, and Barry who has schizophrenia and has convinced himself that he is a golf pro. In addition to an apartment, these guys share a caseworker named Jack who, despite his genuine concern for his clients, is on the verge of total burn-out. The Boys Next Door is a gentle comedy from the late 80s set in a group home for people who are developmentally disabled. As playwright Tom Griffin reveals the daily struggles of his characters to make sense of their world and their places in it, he reminds us to consider how much we take for granted every day. The Boys Next Door is very funny and very touching. Running October 19 through November 6, The Boys Next Door will be performed in the Archbold Theatre at Syracuse Stage, 820 East Genesee Street. Tickets range $18-$50 and are available at the Syracuse Stage Box Office, 315-443-3275 or www.SyracuseStage.org. The presenting sponsor for The Boys Next Door is The Dorothy and Marshall M. Reisman Foundation. Sponsors are Syracuse University Humanities Center, POMCO Group, Burton Blatt Institute, and Arc of Onondaga (celebrating their 60th anniversary). -
