The trip started with live music on the tour bus by the Faiz Ghar music class. On reaching the venue, the group found a quiet spot and spread their yoga mats to attend a vigorous yoga session conducted by Yogi Sham- shad Haider. By the time the session ended, the cold had disappeared, and many had taken o their woollies. The time was ripe for a fruit eating session. The more sporty among the group started playing football and frisbee. By this time the musicians had got their act together. The live music and dance session that followed became livelier when a large group of school girls and their teachers joined in. After a lot of food for the soul, the group was ready to attack Gogay kay Chaney, home made koftas, organic salads, and the most delicious rabri kheer. The group then took a tour of the jungle and the safari park. They enjoyed the wonderful ambience of the bamboo jungle, and the ostriches, deers, parakeet, swans, and many other wild animals and birds. Some members also took rides on the train and colour- ful donkey carts.

  • Kesarev Memo | New Russian Government | January 2020
Kesarev phone: +32 (2) 899 4699 e-mail: [email protected] www.kesarev.com NEW RUSSIAN CABINET: STAFF “REVOLUTION” INSTEAD OF STRUCTURAL REFORMS? Summary On January 21, 2020, President Putin approved the structure of the new Russian Government and appointed Deputy Prime Ministers and federal Ministers. New Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin was appointed on January 16. What are the key specifics of the new Cabinet? The key specific feature of the new Russian Cabinet is that while the structural changes are minimal, the staff reshuffles proved to be radical, both in terms of the number of new people appointed to top offices and change of political status of key Cabinet members (how close they are to the President). This is an extremely atypical decision for Putin, compared to previous Cabinets over the entire period of his stay in power. Earlier, as a rule, the Cabinets included influential figures close to the President and personally associated with him, and a system of checks and balances between different elite groups existed. But at the same time, the decision to change the approach to the Cabinet appointments is logical in the context of a broader presidential “staff policy” over recent years - the so-called “technocratisation” of power (the appointment of young “technocratic” governors, the penetration of such figures into Medvedev’s second Cabinet, the appointment of the head of the Presidential Administration, a “technocrat” Anton Vayno during the Parliamentary election campaign in 2016 and the launch of “Leaders of Russia” contest in order to select and train a “succession pool” for the top positions in the federal and regional civil bureaucracy).

  • Textualization of Self in Pakistani Women's Vernacular Short
NUML Journal of Critical Inquiry Vol 15 (I), June, 2017 ISSN 2222-5706 Blue Roses for Women: Textualization of Self in Pakistani Women’s Vernacular Short Fiction Mirza Muhammad Zubair Baig Abstract The present research paper is based on the compiled volume of Pakistani women’s short fiction translated from the major vernaculars of country into English. These short stories noticeably encourage the women to be vocal about their issues and write their silences back erstwhile muffled in the traditional Pakistani society. These writings respond to Cixous’s call to write a woman, make her public through writing and narrativize her personal self that would enable her to reclaim her body back from patriarchy. These fictional writings trace back the tough journey of vulnerable Pakistani women since the historical moments of partition of India and creation of Pakistan. The women have put on a brave face to the difficult and hard times of dictatorial rules. The study reveals that the women have been beset historically, politically, socially, and locally with the communal biases, political conflicts, social constraints and local myths. Most of the stories are descriptive of women’s suffering though very few of them challenge the patriarchal structures and invite women to resist them. The close reading of the texts shows that the fictional selves and their textualization correlate with the real life women. The existing parochial social and cultural milieu in the present day Pakistan has worsened the life of an ordinary woman due to the absence of social justice. Even in the postcolonial times, women lack institutional support.

  • Political Situation in Russia 2.1
Chapter 2. POLITICAL SITUATION IN RUSSIA 2.1. Continuity of Power Political life in Russia throughout 2005 was determined by the struggle inside the political elite for the opportunity of receiving the plenitude of power in the country after Vladimir Putin steps down as President. In the first 5 years of his tenure as President active measures were taken to oust the „old” elite. Eventually, the President under pressure of his entourage at the federal level almost entirely got rid of the „Yeltsin’s team”. In the final analysis, the „new” elite proved to be configured by the principle of an „administrative two−party system”. The design of the political field is such that the fate of 2008 will be decided in the confrontation of the two „parties” – the „liberals” and „siloviki”. Another thing is that unlike in Western Europe or the US the activity of these parties is largely non−public. At the same time either party – is not just a clan of conspirers longing to make it to the throne – they offer their own way of the country’s development and their own project of Russia’s future. From this point of view, it is safe to say that each party has developed its own protoideology. Whereas the role of the electorate is performed by Vladimir Putin – it is he who will have to make the choice as to which of the two political forces will clinch the victory and take over the country on a „turn key” basis. By and large, this choice for the incumbent head of state is quite dramatic – for „liberals” and „siloviki” form his closest entourage, and it is still very difficult for him to make the choice in favor of one of the NGPs.
