In the run-up to the January 2010 poll, unlike in the period preceding the Orange Revolution, Russia will very likely refrain from backing just a single candidate, and instead will seek a deepening of the existing divisions and further destabilization on the Ukrainian political scene, destabilization which it sees as helping to protect Russian interests in Ukraine. Medvedev’s Letter. In an open letter to Viktor Yushchenko, dated 11 August, Dmitry Medvedev put the blame for the crisis in bilateral relations on the Ukrainian president, and he explained that the arrival of the new ambassador to Kiev, Mikhail Zurabov—replacing Viktor Chernomyrdin, who was recalled last June—would be postponed. Medvedev accused his Ukrainian counterpart of having knowingly abandoned the principles of friendship and partnership with Russia during the past several years. Decision of the IOC Executive Board
Decision of the IOC Executive Board The IOC Executive Board (EB) today deliberated on the findings of the Schmid Commission addressing the systematic manipulation of the anti-doping system in Russia prior to this decision. The Commission’s report also addresses the manipulation of the anti-doping laboratory at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, which targeted the Olympic Games directly. The EB approved the Commission’s report. Now that due process has been followed, and the right to be heard has been granted, the EB, following the recommendations of the Schmid Commission, took the following decisions: I. To suspend the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) with immediate effect. II. To invite individual Russian athletes to the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 according to the following guidelines: 1. The invitation list will be determined, at its absolute discretion, by a panel chaired by Valerie Fourneyron, Chair of the ITA. The panel will include members of the Pre-Games Testing Task Force: one appointed by WADA, one by the DFSU and one by the IOC, Dr Richard Budgett. 2. This panel will be guided in its decisions by the following principles: a) It can only consider athletes who have qualified according to the qualification standards of their respective sports. b) Athletes must be considered clean to the satisfaction of this panel: - Athletes must not have been disqualified or declared ineligible for any Anti-Doping Rule Violation. - Athletes must have undergone all the pre-Games targeted tests recommended by the Pre-Games Testing Task Force. - Athletes must have undergone any other testing requirements specified by the panel to ensure a level playing field. -

He sought to strengthen the Russian state at the international level, restore Russia’s status among world powers, and reduce US hegemony over the international order. He began from the inside through the rebuilding of the Russian state and the building of the internal economy, giving attention to the foreign policy through the establishment of friendly relations with the countries of the Central Asian region, as well as the military and diplomatic relations and the increase of Russian military bases in the Central Asian Republics. During Putin’s second term in office, Russian foreign relations became more realistic, when Russia’s foreign policy goals were announced in an attempt by the political leadership to restore Russia’s global role again. As a result, En+ Group bought a 2% stake in aluminum producer RUSAL from an affiliate of Glencore and raised its stake to 50.12%. A transfer of a 6.75% RUSAL stake to En+Group must be made automatically no later than February 2020. In April 2018, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, government officials and companies, including Oleg Deripaska and companies he controlled - En+ Group, RUSAL, and power producer EuroSibEnergo. In January, Deripaska transferred control over the companies, and his representatives were removed from their board of directors, and the Treasury lifted the sanctions on January 27. As a result, Deripaska owns 44.95% of En+ Group and has the right to vote with a 35% stake, VTB holds 21.68% of the shares and has the right to vote with a 7.35% stake, Citi is a nominal owner of 10.55%, which trader Glencore received in exchange for 8.75% in RUSAL; Citi owns 4.54%, but the right to vote belongs to institutional and retail investors. They also own 4.88%, and can manage a 9.42% combined stake. The members of Deripaska’s family hold 6.75%, charity fund Volnoye Delo 3.22%, other minority shareholders 3.42%. Independent managers have the right to manage the stakes.
