Study visit to Leeuwarden, July 18-20, 2018 Culture driving innovation, socio-economic change and sustainability in Leeuwarden ECoC 2018

Dear guests,

You are very welcome at the - EFA-study visit to Leeuwarden! As European Capital of Culture Leeuwarden- 2018, we are really excited to host this event, to share our policy, projects and experiences and to learn with you about how cultural events can boost ecology, innovation and social- economic change.

In close cooperation with EUROCITIES and EFA, I think a sharp, interesting (and fun!) programme has been prepared, with presentations and discussions with a variety of experts from fruitful partnerships, good networking slots and a taste of what Leeuwarden has to offer. Big thanks, EUROCITIES (and Efa!) staff.

On Wednesday evening, we welcome you and get to know each other. On Thursday, you get to know much about European Capital of Culture, projects on ecology and social inclusion and the Culture and Cities Monitor. On Friday, we focus on biodiversity, innovation and regional partnerships and will address the link between Culture, sustainability and festivals. And then it’s time for some serious field work at a ‘best practice’ (let’s party at the festival)! Of course, the agenda offers ample space for networking (looking forward to your ‘item’), discussions and reflections!

We wish you a fruitful trip,

Sjoerd Feitsma, Deputy Mayor
