Introduction from the Co-Chairs of the Steering Group Welcome on behalf of the Steering Group for the Ascot, Sunninghill and Sunningdale Neighbourhood Plan. In early 2010, the two Parishes of Sunninghill & Ascot and Sunningdale were offered a great opportunity by the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead to come together and become a Front Runner Neighbourhood Plan, as enabled by the government’s Localism proposals. It’s been a long journey of 3 years, with full-scale consultation leading to the delivery of this Plan. The Ascot, Sunninghill & Sunningdale Neighbourhood Plan (NP) Steering Group has been led by local residents (volunteers), with the aim of preparing a Plan that will deliver the long term goals of a balanced and vibrant neighbourhood. Since September 2010 we have held many public meetings, online and paper consultations, to seek the views of local residents and other stakeholders, groups and businesses who share an interest in our neighbourhood area. An active website has allowed everyone to keep up to date with our progress and to make contact with us. All involved in developing the Neighbourhood Plan have listened very carefully to all the feedback received through all these consultations and have worked hard to ensure that the Plan incorporates and reflects the views of the community.

  • Parish Profile 2014
2 INTRODUCTION & HISTORY Warfield Church charts its origins back to 1016AD when Queen Emma granted permission for a chapel to be built on the site of the present Michael the Archangel Parish church. But the fact that the church is dedicated to Michael the Archangel is a strong indicator that the church was built on the site of previous pagan worship – it would have been built to proclaim God’s victory over paganism – built to lift up the name of Jesus. Today Warfield Church continues to meet at the parish church, but it has retained its militant roots. The church is passionately committed to the communication of the Jesus story and the re-evangelisation of the United Kingdom and the world. Due to growth in numbers, and our desire to ensure that all our communities have the opportunity to connect to Jesus, Warfield Church has congregations meeting in Bullbrook, Priestwood, Warfield and Whitegrove as well as supporting mission partners all over the world. The successful candidate will have a particular focus on our North Bracknell Communities and congregations of Priestwood and Bullbrook: Priestwood: The area of Priestwood (circa 7000 people) is subject to a recent Pastoral Order making Priestwood and the Church building of St Andrews part of the Warfield Parish on April 1st 2014. Twenty people from the Warfield Church relocated to St Andrews and one family sold their house and moved into Priestwood to begin our engagement with the community there. Bullbrook: The area of Bullbrook (circa 9000 people) is officially part of a neighbouring parish (Bracknell Team Ministry1) but has been home to a Warfield congregation for over a decade, although it has been in the last 2 to 3 years that it has begun to make significant inroads into the community – primarily through the addition of our Community Pastor, but also through the strategic coffee mornings, toddlers groups and breakfast clubs that we now run there.
